It might actually be a sweet story.* Pan Yinchuan was an utterly ordinary Beta. The most common praise he'd received since childhood was “such a good kid.” He studied and worked by the book. Later, hoping to earn a higher salary, he accepted an introduction from a friend of his parents and went to another city for advanced nursing training. On the second day after he arrived, the city fell into turmoil. Unlucky Pan Yinchuan was locked up in a prisoner-of-war camp. Only later did he learn that they had all been tricked into serving as cannon fodder. On the day Pan Yinchuan thought he would die far from home, a black car stopped beneath a tree. A young, handsome man stepped out. The Alpha's pheromones were forceful and aggressive, leaving Pan Yinchuan's legs trembling. He looked up through the blood blurring his vision and saw the man's long, powerful fingers gripping a cane set with purple gems. Then the man raised his cane and pointed it at him. He asked, “Why me?” The secretary beside the man smiled and said, “You look like you're in excellent health.” Pan Yinchuan thought he was being sent to the front lines as cannon fodder, and his heart sank. The next morning, he woke up with his head still attached. He was just a little worn out in the kidneys. O_o - Later, when he ran into the so-called friend of his parents again, Pan Yinchuan tried for the first time to stand up straight and play the vixen who could throw her weight around thanks to her powerful backer. - Much later, one day, the man suddenly remembered to ask him, “What did you come here to do in the first place?” “Study advanced nursing.” “Oh. Then put on your uniform. Let me see.” “?” When the contract ended, Pan Yinchuan left without a second thought. The man lowered himself to ask why, saying that if he hadn't done well, he could change. Pan Yinchuan: “Because I'm straight.” The man: “?” A plaything turns into true love. Old-school melodramatic forced-pursuit trope, followed by a groveling chase. A seemingly proper, calculating, overly possessive big shot top X a straight bottom who tries being gay to save his own life. Modern ABO setting.
