Red Moon

How wonderfully strange is life?

You live in the far south, and I live in the far north. If we both stayed where we were, our lives would follow separate paths.

They might not be exactly parallel, but by the time their endlessly stretching paths crossed, the world would probably have changed beyond recognition.

Human lives are never that long, so often it's not that our paths will never cross, but that we won't live long enough to see it happen.

But you left your starting point, and I stepped beyond the circle someone had drawn around me.

You said meeting me was the best thing that ever happened to you.

I said meeting you was an inevitable coincidence.

Parallel lines care nothing for north or south; intersecting lines cannot be separated from love and longing.

I don't care when my life's path reaches its end, because my life has already intersected and intertwined with yours.

It doesn't matter if we're at an intersection, or even on a curve.

Pear blossoms along the post road, a kindred spirit is hard to find.

How could such a bond ever be forgotten?

Like the lines of fate in an open palm, which one is mine, and which one is yours?

Until we know, let's not say goodbye.
