He Thought He Was in □□

Xu Mingye, the second young master of the Zhenbei Prince's residence, grew up alongside Gu Jue, the crown prince of the current dynasty. He thought the two of them would become a celebrated lord-and-subject pair, but Gu Jue didn't want to be his lord. He wanted to be his husband.

Before Xu Mingye could figure out what to make of it, fighting broke out at the border. The crown prince led an army to the battlefield, only for them to discover it was a plot against the two of them. They both died there without managing to say one last word.

When Xu Mingye opened his eyes, he was back on the day after Gu Jue had confessed his feelings. The world was at peace and prosperous. He hurried straight to the Eastern Palace and finally said everything he'd been unable to say in his previous life, then planted himself firmly in the Eastern Palace.

Gu Jue had loved Xu Mingye since childhood. He had assumed Xu Mingye felt the same way, but the day after he confessed, Xu Mingye showed up at the Eastern Palace smelling of cosmetics and acting as if nothing had happened.

The things Xu Mingye said were clearly what Gu Jue wanted to hear, yet they also made him afraid to believe them.

The person he'd loved since childhood could say it as a joke or mean every word. Either way, once it was said, Gu Jue would never let him leave his side for the rest of his life.

One day, a eunuch reported:

Eunuch: Your Highness, everything is ready. The Crown Princess won't be able to leave the Eastern Palace.

Xu Mingye: Leave? What do you mean, leave? Isn't lounging around and waiting for my meals a wonderful life?

Gu Jue: He doesn't want to leave. He's only staying because I'm forcing him.

Imperial Physician: Your Highness, the Crown Princess is pregnant.

Gu Jue: He must hate me now. He'll never forgive me for the rest of his life.

Xu Mingye: At last! He weeps with joy. He can go ten months without being kept busy night and day!
