Three years into the apocalypse, all plants and animals had mutated. The soft, adorable little furballs of the past had all become gigantic monsters. Humanity's living space was being squeezed away without limit.
In the fifth year, after countless battles and rivers of blood, humanity established what seemed to be a tranquil city under Tan Chaojin's leadership.
It kept the mutated creatures beyond its walls.
Before the apocalypse, Ruan Yuanyuan was a stray kitty with a round face, big eyes, short legs, and a sweet little meow.
He always thought he didn't need a human to clean his litter box. The whole neighborhood was his territory, and he could bury his own poop, so he didn't need humans to help.
All he had to do was meow a couple of times and rub against a human's legs, and they would gladly provide him with food.
But there was one human he had his eye on. The human had a lovely name: Tan Chaojin.
Although Tan Chaojin always liked to rub his belly and call him fat, he had once chased away some bad people who wanted to hurt him.
And besides! Tan Chaojin was the best-looking person in the whole neighborhood. It would be such a waste for someone that handsome not to be his human.
Unfortunately, when Ruan Yuanyuan woke up, he discovered that his future human had disappeared before he could go and "accidentally" run into him, and his territory had become a desolate wasteland.
Worried about his human's safety, Ruan Yuanyuan set off on his four little legs, bringing along the dried fish he'd carefully saved as a welcome gift, and began his journey to find him.

Five years into the apocalypse, Tan Chaojin had undoubtedly risen to the top of humanity. Countless people saw him as the hope of the new world and tried their hardest to curry favor with him, yet they also feared him, thought he was a monster, and hoped he would die.
Badly wounded in the final battle and barely clinging to life, Tan Chaojin knew he didn't have long to live. Then a fat cat buried his face in its belly. "I haven't eaten in five minutes. Give me a piece of dried fish, and I'll reluctantly let you rub my belly."
