[Northern Song] Has the Noble Consort Fallen from Favor Today?

[Emperor Renzong of Song x Empress Wencheng] Zhang Guifei, who died at just thirty-one, had been the only one favored by the emperor. Everyone said she was lucky to rise from a dancer to a first-rank consort, but Zhang Yunfu didn't think so. First, she never became empress. Second, her daughters died one after another in infancy. Third, she never understood whether that man truly loved her. Only after she died did she see him weep uncontrollably before her coffin. He defied all advice and posthumously made her empress, ordered every official to write a eulogy at each festival, and indulged her in violating court protocol during her lifetime, dismissing the impeachment memorials against her. Before his death, he murmured her name. Zhang Yunfu was reborn, back on the day she first performed a dance for him. The man's face was impassive as he sat high on his throne in his ceremonial robes. He didn't even notice when the jade ornament in his hand fell. Later, the consort asked every day: “Does Your Majesty really like me?” The emperor: “...I do.” - Has the consort fallen out of favor today? No. Zhao Zhen lived by strict discipline and propriety, and was frugal and benevolent. Only for Zhang Yunfu did he make an exception. 1. A fictional Northern Song setting, with many original liberties 2. As sweet and satisfying as ever Theme: Love is a source of strength
