A Duet of Strings in the World of Gu Jian

“Husband, do you truly not understand what Jitong means?” “No matter what you’ve done wrong, you’ll always be Xunfang’s husband!” Ouyang Shaogong gazed at Xunfang’s lovely face, finding it all utterly ridiculous, especially after hearing her words. What had he done wrong? It was the way of heaven and human nature that were at fault! No one in this world had the right to judge me. Yet, seeing the deep affection in Xunfang’s eyes, Ouyang Shaogong couldn’t bring himself to utter any of the scornful words on his tongue. In the end, he could only sigh. “Forget it. This… is rather nice, too.” His hand slipped from Xunfang’s face and fell to his side. His phoenix eyes slowly closed, their light fading away. His raven lashes drooped, hiding all his brilliance. Ouyang Shaogong’s face held neither peace nor pain, only calm and weariness. No one in this world understood Shaogong. All Xunfang could offer him was warmth, not understanding. May someone in the next life truly understand Shaogong: his sorrow and madness, and his tenderness and helplessness. First published on Baidu Tieba. Written purely as a hobby, fueled by love.
