Updated whenever inspiration strikes (a rambling work by Face Rolling on Keyboard: a story that's a little dull, but might make a decent read over a meal?)
Bai Yi is an old hand in the workplace and a top-ranked player in a certain game. But when it comes to dealing with people, he's rather clueless, which makes it hard for him to lead others. The only one who listens to his gaming advice conscientiously is his apprentice in the game.
Liu Fu has changed jobs, finally bringing himself a little closer to his senior. But he's anxious about these feelings he has nowhere to put, and really, really wants to confide in someone. The trouble is, whether it's friends in his social circle or relatives of his generation at home, none of them are likely to accept feelings like these.
Fortunately, he has a wonderful master. Whether it's about how to play the game or things that have happened to him in real life, he always benefits a great deal whenever he talks things over with him.
With a let's-give-it-a-try attitude, he asked this master he'd never met in person. Luckily, the other man wasn't opposed to this sort of thing.
When faced with his apprentice's love story, Bai Yi was just like a reader holding a bowl and waiting for his favorite couple to get together, ready to follow the "plot" on his screen every day.
It's not as if he hadn't tried encouraging his apprentice to confess and see what happened. At the very least, they were coworkers. But his apprentice was afraid of other people's judgment, and even more afraid of putting pressure on the senior he'd been secretly in love with all this time.
Helpless, Bai Yi instantly transformed into his apprentice's wingman, helping him plan his approach and test the other man's feelings.
Liu Fu took his advice and did as he was told. But so as not to make it too obvious, he had to make sure everyone in the team got a share. The little something reserved for that special person was just a tiny bit more.
Of course, he reported back to his master every time. Most of what he said was about what his senior was like in his eyes.
Until one day, his apprentice sent him a message: "Today I managed to get my senior to leave work with me. We're going to the supermarket together to buy food for the team-building event!"
Bai Yi put his phone down on the desk and went to print the last document he needed before clocking out.
But in that brief moment, Liu Fu caught sight of what was displayed on his senior's phone out of the corner of his eye...
In an instant, countless thoughts rushed through his mind. His master, his wingman, and the person he secretly loved were all...!?
After that, whenever he chatted with his master, he became even more excited, describing all sorts of details in an even more moving way. He was eager to know what the senior on the other side of the screen looked like.
Yet he was even more afraid of how his senior would react when he learned the truth...
But that day finally came, and when it did, Bai Yi was stunned!
Helping my apprentice win me over?
The master, the senior, the coworker, the "little ray of sunshine," the person being secretly loved, the clown... were all me?
Reader's Guide:
The author doesn't have much workplace experience. The professions and workplace details are entirely fictional, and most of the time they are glossed over.
A work by Face Rolling on Keyboard. No secondary couples, no third parties, only imagined rivals.
The slice-of-life style is like keeping a diary, with lots of the receiver's inner monologue while he's eating.
Suitable as a casual read over a meal or a bowl of instant noodles. The story moves extremely slowly. The pursuer in this unrequited-love story is very conflicted, while the receiver has only one of the seven emotions and six desires left: appetite.
Author's Warnings:
1. The author is incredibly stubborn and has a head full of ideas, but terrible follow-through. What gets written is worlds apart from what's in my head.
2. This story is being written on and off, with long breaks in between. Before it's finished, I probably won't go back and agonize over what's already been written. At most, I'll continue from the previous chapter.
3. Punctuation is used haphazardly, and I mix up the different forms of "de" (I use "de" for everything). I may also overlook the difference between "zai" and "zai," so please bear with me.
4. I love inner monologues and little skits, but when the characters actually act, they can still feel very robotic. I'm trying to watch out for that and fix it...
5. There may be a lot of repeated words, such as "even," "at least," "but," "actually," and "then."
6. I'll try to reply to comments, but please don't believe any promises made by the author. Until a promise becomes reality, it's all just bubbles!!!!
7. This is my second novel in life, and it's full of things to criticize. Please bear with me orz
If you're bored, feel free to drop the story at any time. If there's anything you want to curse me out for, please direct it at the author. Thank you, lovely readers! orz
