In the 1990s, the Underdog Turns Her Life Around

In her sophomore year of high school, Xia Qingzhu moved in with the Wei family after her mother remarried. From then on, she became the comparison point for her stepsister, who was the same age.

Her stepsister was cheerful and lively, while Xia Qingzhu was quiet and gloomy.

Her stepsister got into a top university, while Xia Qingzhu dropped out of high school.

After graduating from university, her stepsister went into business and became a well-known entrepreneur. With her lack of education, Xia Qingzhu could only scrape by at a factory.

Her stepsister met a handsome, wealthy, high-quality man, and the two became a perfect couple, living like a fairy tale. Xia Qingzhu's unrequited love failed, making her a laughingstock.

Later, she was laid off and had no way to support herself. She returned to the Wei family to seek help from her mother, but to no avail. On her way back, she accidentally fell into the water and died.

When she opened her eyes, she had returned to the day before she moved in with the Wei family. Only then did she learn that her life of more than twenty years had been nothing but the life of a cannon-fodder foil in a period novel, existing only to highlight how well the protagonist was doing!

Xia Qingzhu refused to accept it. Why should a comparison character spend her whole life as cannon fodder?

Given another chance, she would work hard and make something of herself. Even a cannon-fodder foil could have her day in the sun!

Theme: Only through self-reliance and hard work can you change your life.
