Highly skilled female constable x sickly, lovesick, eccentric coroner
Cheng Gong was the daughter of the constable in Liu'an Town. Growing up surrounded by her father's work, she learned to wield knives and spears, and resolved to pass the Six Gates exam.
Everyone laughed at her, saying she was delusional and dreaming the impossible. After all, even the chickens raised by the Six Gates' cook were male.
Cheng Gong refused to believe it was impossible. Her father traveled a thousand li to ask around and learn the requirements: solve a hundred cases in two years, and she'd qualify for the Six Gates exam.
Cheng Gong took him at his word. From then on, whenever a case happened in Liu'an Town, she was always the first to arrive.
At first, her parents thought it was just a passing whim and didn't take it seriously. But before long, the matchmakers had nearly worn down the Cheng family's doorstep, and Cheng Gong still wouldn't budge. She kept running all over town every day.
Just as Cheng Gong had only three cases left to reach her goal of a hundred, an eccentric young coroner came to Liu'an Town.
She had accidentally knocked over his medicine, and this eccentric coroner wouldn't let up, chasing her for compensation. No one at the yamen dared let her handle murder cases, but this strange coroner had no qualms about ordering her around. He even helped her solve two major cases in a row...
