The Hunger Within

[1]

The noble cardinal was cursed. From then on, he had to drink the blood of the lower classes to survive.

So he put on a mask and picked a girl at random from the filthy women's prison to be his food.

She looked filthy and wretched. He wanted nothing to do with her beyond what was necessary, and never asked her name. In the dark, he drank her blood without a trace of feeling.

Until one day, she carefully plotted her escape and fled from him without hesitation.

[2]

Calmly, he took off his mask, changed into his sacred vestments, and put on the ruby ring that symbolized the authority of the Church. Then he found her, having infiltrated a shelter for impoverished women.

"Last night, I received a revelation from God," he said gently, looking at her. "There is a girl here who needs my help. Are you willing to accept God's will?"

His scarlet robes were so immaculate that they seemed to radiate an untouchable holiness.

She believed him and tearfully clasped the hand bearing his ring.

"Please, save me..."

Of course he would save her.

He would teach her how to dress elegantly, how to dine elegantly, how to read and write elegantly, and then keep her forever, possess her, and feed on her.

She would never escape again.
