You are a third-rate novelist. One day, you suddenly transmigrate to another world and awaken the ability to rewrite the world's plot.
You get your hands on this world's "script."
[Plot: In the 1980s, a boy is born as a "divine child" into a traditional, powerful family...]
You (nodding): Not bad. A classic manga opening.
[Plot: The boy grows up, enters school, and meets the closest friend he'll ever have...]
You (still nodding): The second male lead makes his entrance. That old-fashioned friendship trope.
[Plot: They go on a mission together. It fails, and his best friend turns evil.]
You (delivering a scathing critique): Cliche!
[Plot: The boy kills his best friend with his own hands, then starts a life of endless overtime, working all over the country from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, all year round.]
You (stammering): H-huh?
You speed-read the entire "script," only to discover it's a garbage story about a guy called "the strongest" who keeps gaining things and losing them, accomplishing nothing, and eventually dying himself!
You: Spits up three liters of blood
Fuming at having been killed off by such a rotten story, you immediately use your ability to rewrite the plot, vowing to turn this trash into a triumphant tale of a supreme hero ruling the world, with a happy ending where everyone gets their perfect happily-ever-after!
And so...
The high-grade curse that killed an underclassman
You (writing furiously): Die, die, die, die!
The leader of the Star Plasma Religious Group, who never does anything good
You: Die, die, die, die!
Those evil old mandarins of the old regime
You: Die, die, die, die! Trip over your own feet and die!
And the King of Curses, asleep for a thousand years, and the brain that keeps switching bodies, all of you, die, die, die, die!
Domain Expansion! Everyone, go die!
At last, you write to your heart's content. On the day the world reaches its happy ending, you sweep out of sight without taking a single cloud with you.
But when you open your eyes again,
you've transmigrated once more.
You: ???
Wait, seriously? This stupid script has a second run-through too??
Gojo Satoru had a dream.
In the dream, he returned to his high school days, when a strange new classmate transferred into his class.
The new classmate was a girl. She always looked cool and aloof, barely spoke, and seemed to be suffering from a prolonged case of chuunibyou. She often called herself the "God of the New World" and looked at him with a kind, almost maternal gaze, as if he were her son (?).
After she enrolled, Gojo Satoru's already smooth-sailing life before he turned seventeen became even more ridiculously easy. Nothing in the whole world could ever go wrong for him.
Thinking this classmate was responsible for it all, Gojo openly watched her with a curious gaze. And the more he watched, the more he realized...
Yeah, she's pretty weird.
And weirdly cute, too.
On the day they graduated, Gojo Satoru called over their two mutual friends, planning to confess to his cute classmate.
But...
She didn't show up.
She disappeared.
At the same time, the world collapsed, and Gojo Satoru woke from his dream.
He was still living in a world where he and his best friend had gone their separate ways after their youth.
Nothing had changed...
Had it?
Bonus scene:
One day, at the Council of Jujutsu Elders.
Gojo Satoru was ordered to capture the Queen of Curses.
As he was threatening the bunch of corrupt old mandarins, a loud thud suddenly came from behind the curtain.
Someone beside him panicked. "O-oh no! The Zenin elder tripped over his own feet and fell! He doesn't look like he's going to make it!"
Gojo Satoru: "..."
That familiar feeling.
It's back. It's all back.
*My own take on a spoiler-filled, self-indulgent power fantasy. No angst, no heartbreak. A conceptually divine heroine and her number-one good boy, WTW.
*Pairing: Gojo Satoru
