Isn't the Substitute Better? [GB]

Ye Shen spent ten years pursuing Pei Jingchuan.

The only daughter of the Ye family, Ye Shen was carefree, capricious, and ill-behaved. No one could have imagined she would be so devoted to her nominal stepbrother.

After ten years, everyone had come to believe she would keep this up for the rest of her life. Then, out of nowhere, she seemed to come to her senses: the passenger seat might be constant, but boys came and went, each one fresh-faced and sweet.

Insiders, however, revealed the truth. Ye Shen might seem willing to accept anyone, but in reality she was rarely interested and didn't often take anyone home for the night. As for Pei Jingchuan, no matter how busy she was, she always made time each week to return to the old family home and have dinner with him, just as devoted as ever.

She was still the same lovesick fool as before.

But it all ended when Yuan Jia appeared. He was awkward, shy, naive, and innocent, and he looked a lot like Pei Jingchuan.

The night they met, Ye Shen took Yuan Jia home. From then on, there was no one else by Ye Shen's side.

What no one knew was that on that same night, Pei Jingchuan had prepared a table full of food and sat alone in the old family home until midnight.

Pei Jingchuan had once thought that he and Ye Shen would go on like this for the rest of their lives. They could never take things further, but no one else would ever be closer to them. That was already good enough.

But he never imagined that one day, the girl who had always chased after him would turn her gaze to someone else.
