Also known as Eighties Literary Girl and The Great Writer of the Eighties
Blurb One:
Who doesn't have a few awful, unbearable relatives?
Xie Lizhu, who was born into the 1980s, can proudly say that her family doesn't.
Because to everyone else, Xie Lizhu's family of three are the awful relatives.
Her dad is henpecked and only knows how to shop. Her mom is gorgeous but shallow, with nothing going for her besides her looks.
As their only daughter, Xie Lizhu feels the pressure. Her family is a textbook example of a "paycheck-to-paycheck" household in the 1980s.
Eating imported chocolate and wearing little leather shoes, eight-year-old Xie Lizhu wonders anxiously:
Will there be enough money for next month's expenses? Surely they won't have to mooch meals from Grandpa and Grandma again?
Her parents both have jobs, so why haven't they saved a penny?
Seeing her dad come back from the department store with a huge bag of pastries, Xie Lizhu says nothing.
*
"You little brat! Think you're all grown up now? Your mother worked so hard to get you that iron rice bowl, and you want to throw it away to go into business for yourself!"
Her grandmother, who loves her dad best, grabs a broom and chases him, threatening to beat him. Xie Lizhu hears that her dad wants to quit his job and start a business.
Oh, then it's fine. Good for him! She hopes he works hard. She wants to be a rich second-generation kid! (Shouting.jpg)
The first step to getting rich: take out a loan and sell persimmons!
Blurb Two:
In the late 1980s, novels from Hong Kong and Taiwan swept the mainland, while mainland fiction struggled to keep up.
Teenage beauty Xie Lizhu picks up her pen and takes her first steps into the literary world.
Coming from a later era, she stands on the shoulders of giants, bringing with her the legacy of the future. Her ideas are more advanced and far-sighted than those of her time, and she is destined to shine.
Oh, you say literary fiction looks down on popular fiction?
Popular fiction and literary fiction, she can handle both with ease.
Sorry, I'm going to make both sides of the literary world bloom!
Reading Notes:
1. Lizhu means a precious pearl, from the saying: "A priceless pearl lies in the deepest abyss, beneath the chin of a black dragon." The heroine is an only child. Her parents will never have another child, and love their precious daughter alone!
2. The author loves writing warm family ensemble stories and the heroine's everyday growth, so her parents will have a lot of scenes and plotlines while she is young.
3. As above, the story follows the heroine's growth from childhood, so her career plotline comes later. The early focus is on her parents' careers.
4. Childhood sweethearts forever! One-on-one romance, no wavering.
5. This is a fictional setting! Fictional setting! Fictional setting! Do not connect it to reality!
6. Check out the author's other series about only daughters.
Theme: Hard work brings wealth.
