//Mutual pining// A dark-skinned, silly little general who pretends to be cold × a sweet young lady from a noble family
When she was little, a young boy lived next door.
He had dark skin, and when he smiled, his bright white teeth really stood out.
But the boy kept a stern, prematurely solemn face around everyone else. Only with her did he flash those pearly whites all day long.
With her hair tied into two little buns, she curiously asked him why.
The boy scratched his head. "Father says that if I want to become a general, I have to be serious. But I can't be stern with my future wife."
The little girl blushed, her voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz. "...Ah! Are you going to marry me someday?"
The boy's dark face turned red. "Will you be my little wife? But I'm going to join my uncle's army. When I become a general, I'll come back and marry you."
"Okay..."
Later, in the military camp, the boy proudly told everyone that he had a wife as lovely as a little fairy.
#
After she came of age, the boy returned to the capital victorious, alongside his uncle.
At a teahouse, the young woman blushed and pointed him out to her friends with a smile. "Look, that's the husband I picked out for myself when I was little."
# A fierce-looking, dark-skinned young general (a silly big puppy?) × a sweet noble young lady
# Not a strong female lead, not a wish-fulfillment story, just a sweet little romance
# The main story starts when the grown-up young general returns in triumph!
Here's another adorable childhood-sweethearts story by a friend of mine! Do check it out!!
A delicate noble young lady × a spoiled young master
"The Young Lady of the Young Master's Family" by Yi Ge Pang Li
Also, here's a preview of my next story, "Protecting the Princess"
A pitiful girl who grew up away from home / a crafty princess of the fallen dynasty × a taciturn, reserved courtier escorting the princess
After the previous dynasty fell, she was a princess hunted for thousands of miles.
She drank muddy water, fought beggars for food, and pretended to be insane just to survive.
He was her elder brother's courtier. He was the one who brought her out of a crowd of beggars, washed away the filth, and gave her a beautiful dress again.
She had been terrified for a long time, always feeling that someone might suddenly kill her during the journey.
The little princess was full of unease, while he was quiet and highly skilled in martial arts. He protected her again and again.
So the little princess cautiously drew closer to him, step by step, hoping to find a sense of safety in his presence.
But he quietly stepped away. Rejected, the little princess cried her eyes out every day.
The traveling physician warned that if she kept crying, she would go blind.
He had promised the Crown Prince that he would bring her back safely.
And so...
The man gave way, step by step. Silently, he let her tug on his sleeve, hold his hand, and cling to him for comfort...
#
After he saved her, she didn't know whether it was because of his formidable martial arts or his reserved, steady manner that made her feel so safe.
In short, she latched onto him.
In her unhealthy state of mind, she believed that until she returned to the capital, she could only make it safely back to her brother if he devoted himself to protecting her.
She was constantly anxious along the way.
She watched him anxiously as she walked, and wouldn't stop until he agreed to let her hold his hand.
She needed him to stand guard outside the carriage. Otherwise, she would tremble all over.
After several assassination attempts along the way, her anxiety only got worse.
She had to cry in his arms and hold his hand to fall asleep.
Relying on her brother's instructions, she clung to him, one step at a time.
#
Perhaps giving in can become a habit.
As he escorted her,
when she was startled, she would often cry and wrap her arms around his waist. Eventually, his heart softened, and he spoke to her gently.
But why, after she returned to her brother, did the little princess suddenly no longer need him?
#
But how could a man who had become her brother's courtier be so easy to get rid of?
Later, he forcefully took away the princess as she laughed and chatted with another man.
Holding the woman he'd embraced countless times captive in his arms, the man still wore his usual unsmiling expression.
He lowered his head and kissed the top of her hair.
The woman in his arms shivered, but he smiled and whispered dangerously in her ear, "Didn't you say you were afraid when I wasn't holding you?"
"Princess, did you think you could use me and then throw me away?"
