The gong is a transmigrated college student bound to a Soft-Rice Emperor System. He has to complete the System's missions to stay alive.
Just as the name suggests: live off someone else, then become emperor.
But right now, he has nothing to his name and is sickly.
He doesn't even hold a single scholarly title.
How to start a rebellion can wait.
The gong ponders: How can he find a wife who'd willingly join him in his grand undertaking?
Just as he's debating whether to lower his standards and find a roommate to team up with first, a young husband comes knocking at his door.
The beautiful young husband, perfectly matching his tastes, carries a little one and specifically asks him to marry into his family.
There! Could! Be! Such! A! Great! Deal!
He has to marry in!
If the soft rice isn't plentiful enough, he'll cook it himself!
After marrying into the family, the gong is full of drive. He uses the System to improve their lives, raise the child, and continue his plans for rebellion.
His only worry is that he doesn't know how to get his husband on board.
He hasn't worried for long when the shou, sporting a pregnant belly, arrives with the head of the prince who had been living among the common folk.
The shou smiles at him. "My husband bears a six- or seven-tenths resemblance to him. A real man shouldn't live beneath another. Why not replace him with you?"
The suddenly overpowered male lead: "...All right."
This soft rice really goes straight down the hatch!
What a thrill!
The shou died in a place of exile, then was reborn.
Only after being reborn did he learn that his whole family was the wicked foil in a book called The Beloved Lucky Carp Husband.
The protagonist, a young man, first marries a poor scholar, then marries the crown prince after he returns to the imperial family. He is cherished all his life, right up to his final breath.
His own family, meanwhile, are nothing but "arrogant and domineering" villains in the protagonist's story! Props to show how beloved he is! Ugly fools who stew with jealousy!
The shou grinds his teeth nearly to pieces: The world is unjust!
That idiot who only knows how to play the innocent little rabbit, what makes him so special?
He'll snatch it! Fight for it! Take it!
He'll start by stealing the future chief councilor the idiot got by sheer luck.
The shou refuses to believe he can't handle one poor scholar.
Except...
The shou clutches the bedcovers and asks, bewildered, "Aren't you impotent?"
The gong is shocked. "Who said that? Who's coveting my soft rice?"
The shou: "..."
He... didn't steal the wrong person, did he?
