I Don't Want to Be the White Moonlight

Sheng Weitang's greatest regret was letting a boy escape when his elder brother ordered him to wipe out the general's entire family. Later, when Sheng Weitang got into trouble while practicing archery and horsemanship, the boy, now grown, appeared out of nowhere and saved him.

After learning the man's identity, Sheng Weitang thought this was a reward for his kindness.

In time, they fell in love and became intimate. But the man used his connections to take command of the army the general had left behind, then launched a coup and usurped the dynasty of Sheng Weitang's elder brother without his knowledge.

When the truth came to light, Sheng Weitang was forced to take his own life. After his soul left his body, he heard the man say before his memorial tablet, "From beginning to end, I only ever used you."

Sheng Weitang laughed until tears came to his eyes.

So their vows of eternal love had been nothing but a ridiculous scheme.

When he opened his eyes again, he was reborn in the imperial palace more than twenty years later. Beside him was a prince who had been banished to the Cold Palace. He looked a lot like the man, and even had a similar temper.

Sheng Weitang turned and walked away.

As he passed the dilapidated Fengyi Palace, a palace eunuch sweeping the grounds fell to the floor in fright. "The, the Empress Dowager is back!"

Completely baffled, Sheng Weitang hurried back into the Cold Palace.

Seeing no way out, he took in that prince, though he barely bothered looking after him. He only hoped that when the prince left the Cold Palace, he would take Sheng Weitang along.

Later, he got front-row seats to a showdown between two generations of emperors.
