While taking a stroll in the woods, Hoxier found a dying little dog with gray fur.
Its body was soaked in blood, its right leg had been gnawed by a wild animal, and it was barely breathing, one step from death. The puppy struggled to open its amber eyes, filled with a desperate longing to live.
In that instant, Hoxier saw his sick, dying mother in the little dog, and himself, clinging to life because of his illness. He brought it back to the estate, cared for it tenderly, and named it Bessa.
Once she recovered, Bessa became the best companion for Hoxier, who was bedridden year-round.
She brought him the first flower of spring.
She ran in the sunshine, her warm, fluffy coat bouncing against him as she cuddled up for affection.
She drove away servants with bad intentions.
But he could do nothing for Bessa. All he could do was watch as she, newly arrived at maturity, writhed in agony through the damp spring season.
Unable to bear watching Bessa suffer, Hoxier finally followed the veterinarian's advice and sent the frail dog to the operating table.
Fortunately, the cheerful little dog didn't hold a grudge, and their friendship remained as unbreakable as ever.
That is, if Bessa hadn't turned into a gray-haired, golden-eyed woman.
Bessa was a lucky little dog. She had found the best owner in the world.
But ever since she unexpectedly took human form, her owner's attitude had started to get strange.
After the maid pointed it out, Bessa finally understood what her owner meant. But after her operation, Bessa no longer had those worldly desires. She couldn't return her owner's feelings, and the whole thing only troubled her.
She decided to turn him down.
One evening, Bessa cornered her sickly owner in his bedroom. After telling him everything, she leaned close to his ear and asked softly:
"Do you regret having me spayed back then?"
A few notes:
1. One-on-one romance, sweet and devoted.
2. Inspired by the cat-turns-into-a-prince trope.
3. The heroine is a werewolf, but at first she believes she's an ordinary animal. She doesn't have human values, and there is no romance while she's in animal form, just pure owner-and-pet affection.
4. No magic, but there is witchcraft.
Theme: Everyone has a responsibility to care for animals
