A hundred years later, a series of murders takes place in the depths of the Cheng Tian imperial palace. Every case seems connected to Cheng Tian Gate a century ago.

As a lowly palace official in Yongxiang, Teng Ying is reluctantly drawn into the murder cases.

Are these killings the work of people, or of ghosts?

And what secret is hidden by the young man who rescued her from a fire when she was thirteen?

Teng Ying seeks the answers, unaware that they could shake the court and overturn the world, and that they will also disrupt the changing times.

As she gazes into the abyss, she has no idea she has already fallen into an even deeper nightmare.
