Pact of the Eye

Rumor has it that people with Yin-Yang Eyes also have another identity: Contract Bearers.

1. Jiang Jue is a Contract Bearer. His right iris is crimson, and each eye serves a different purpose: one sees the living souls, the other the dead. With both eyes open, he can see everything between yin and yang, including the lonely spirits of the human world.

2. Contract Bearers rarely live long.

Knowing he might die young, Jiang Jue began thinking about his last wishes while still young himself.

First wish: Find a successor.

Unfortunately, his funds were too low to recruit anyone, so he got nowhere.

Jiang Jue could only put up an ad for a lodger in his own home.

Last wish: He's still single, and wants to find the love of his dreams and enjoy a passionate romance before he kicks the bucket.

3. As a Contract Bearer, Jiang Jue follows his family rules and hangs his ancestors' portraits somewhere prominent.

On the first day Xie Ting moved in, he pointed at the portrait, then at himself, and asked if they looked alike.

Jiang Jue: "...Like what?"

At first, Jiang Jue thought the guy was just a little strange. But after the ancestral portrait began to glow whenever Xie Ting was near, and even started glowing in a pattern, Jiang Jue fell silent.

Then Xie Ting asked him again.

Jiang Jue stared blankly. He turned and saw that Xie Ting now looked just like the hideous portrait. A flash of lightning illuminated them, making his features even clearer.

Jiang Jue, lucky enough to see the portrait come to life, swallowed hard.

Xie Ting smiled faintly. "Do we look alike now?"

Jiang Jue: "..."

Not sure. Better take another look.

[Reader's Guide]

1. This story has four main characters and is sort of a lightly ensemble-cast story~

2. From the perspective of the top and bottom (mostly the bottom's), it's a story about leveling up and fighting monsters with a bunch of little gremlins, with some bittersweet, long-suffering dad moments.

3. From the perspective of the two little gremlins, it's a coming-of-age story~

4. From the top's perspective... it should be a story about traveling a thousand miles to find his wife and then sticking close to him (that's the plan for now; it might change later).

5. The two little gremlins: one is obedient, sensible, and adorable, making you want to pat his head; the other is an unruly, money-loving little rascal who makes you want to give him a good smack.

Everything is fictional.
