Blurb:

Movie emperor Lu Xincheng had just gotten the script for his new drama when he transmigrated into a book. He didn't become the male lead he was playing. Instead, he became the male lead's best friend, the number-one cannon fodder character in the book.

A voice told him: Stop the male lead from turning dark before the ending, and you can return to your original world.

The hardworking young movie emperor always wrote character biographies after getting a role. Lu Xincheng knew the male lead far too well. His "best friend" was like the male lead's unattainable first love, and it was only after his best friend died that the male lead embarked on his path to darkness.

As long as the "best friend" didn't die...

Lu Xincheng woke up on a bed in a funeral home and touched the cross-shaped stitches on his chest. Only then did he realize he'd transmigrated into the corpse of the male lead's best friend.

...Talk about missing the boat by a mile.

The Ghost Hunters' Revelation is a hugely popular IP. Its cold-faced god of war, with a pair of different-colored eyes, kills every god and demon in his path and uses a sword hidden in an umbrella to slaughter evil spirits. When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back. By the ending, Wen Yuezhi had become an evil god, much to the regret of countless fans. Many readers firmly believed that if Wen Yuezhi had someone to love, perhaps the ending would have been different.

Movie emperor Lu thought so too. Although Wen Yuezhi had no official love interest, the original story had heroines from No. 1 to No. N. He'd just have his best friend set him up with someone and let love redeem him!

Lu Xincheng's first step: come back to life and reclaim everything that belongs to me...

What? To revive, he has to receive breath from the person closest to him?

Lu Xincheng: ??

Looks like I matched the wrong people. But, with a movie emperor's professionalism, Lu Xincheng seamlessly immersed himself in character...

Wen Yuezhi stared at his best friend's pale, paper-white face, trying to decide whether he looked more human or more like a ghost. In the end, he couldn't bring himself to raise the hand gripping his sword behind him.

Wen Yuezhi noticed that his best friend's personality was completely different from when he was alive.

Lu Xincheng leaned in close. "Yuezhi, I need to ask you a favor."

Wen Yuezhi: ?

Lu Xincheng's cold hand slid to the other man's lower back. The peachwood sword immediately burned his hand, sending wisps of white smoke curling into the air.

Lu Xincheng seemed not to feel any pain. He lowered his eyes and said softly, "If possible, I want to die by your hand."

Wen Yuezhi pressed down his wandering hand, his peach-blossom eyes lowered. "Why?"

Lu Xincheng leaned close to his ear. "If I don't die in the hands of the person I love, I won't be able to rest in peace."

Wen Yuezhi's long lashes trembled. The veins on the hand clutching the peachwood stake stood out, and his ears turned scarlet.

Lu Xincheng discovered that ghosts were easier to fool than Wen Yuezhi, but Wen Yuezhi was easier to flirt with than ghosts.

1. Romance is the focus, with the plot in a supporting role.

2. The protagonist is irresistible to everyone, but only he and the seme have mutual feelings throughout. Both are virgins, happy ending.

3. It may be a little slow to warm up at first.

4. Episodic plotlines, but the main story is continuous, so it's not recommended to skip episodes.

Theme: Reject empty grandstanding and embrace truth, kindness, and beauty.
