After Lu Zhaozhao transmigrates into a book as the villain's assistant in an entertainment-industry novel, she unexpectedly gets bound to the Fortune and Misfortune System.
In the book, she's a pitiful wage slave who earns just 4,000 yuan a month and has to be on call 24/7.
The instant she's bound to the System, Lu Zhaozhao waves a hand grandly: Give me a 5-million-yuan lottery ticket to start with!
The Fortune and Misfortune System warns her: Sure, but you'll have to trade your life for it.
Lu Zhaozhao: Never mind.
The Fortune and Misfortune System: Every stroke of good luck comes with a corresponding price in misfortune.
The villain is a D-list celebrity with a bad temper who loves throwing his weight around, and he often hits and berates her.
Lu Zhaozhao: Go on, hit me! Did you skip dinner? Hit harder!
A few days later, videos of the villain hitting and berating staff are exposed across the internet.
Lu Zhaozhao is immediately picked by the director of the variety show Desert Island Survival, and begins a nine-night, ten-day survival trip on an uninhabited island.
Only after going hungry for two days and realizing the production team really doesn't care whether she lives or dies does Lu Zhaozhao understand that the show is for real.
A piece of fruit she worked hard to pick is bitten in half by a fellow contestant.
Lu Zhaozhao: Maybe take a look at the worm in that half before you grin like an idiot?
She doesn't dare drink the water she worked so hard to purify, and puts it somewhere obvious, only for a fellow contestant to take it.
Just as everyone expects her to blow up, Lu Zhaozhao says: Let justice shine! May three huge bottles of Nongfu Spring rain down from the sky.
On a lifestyle observation variety show...
While out for a meal, Lu Zhaozhao casually scratches a lottery ticket and unexpectedly wins the grand prize of one million yuan.
The Fortune and Misfortune System warns her: For the next three days, you'd better sleep with one eye open.
When choosing a task, she easily picks the easiest one.
Before the System can say a word, Lu Zhaozhao raises her hand: Whoever got the hardest task, I want to switch with you! I'm begging you!
The production team: ???
The audience: ???
As her luck score rises, the price of misfortune keeps falling.
Getting into Tsinghua University, becoming a movie queen, sweeping all kinds of awards...
Lu Zhaozhao: I'm so lucky, I'm genuinely afraid I'll choke even on a drink of cold water...
Theme: The harder you work, the luckier you get.
