1. Just as Li Shuang's peaceful life was thrown into turmoil and she was at a loss about what to do, she ran into Fu Zezhou again.

The generous young master Fu came to her rescue in her hour of need, and won the beauty's heart in the process.

He doted on Li Shuang and spared no expense for her, treating her far better than all the other women he'd been involved with. Everyone teased him that this time he must have really fallen for her, and should just hurry up and get married.

Fu Zezhou didn't deny it. Looking down at the gorgeous woman in his arms, he smiled with an easy, roguish air. "Our Lili is still young. Don't scare her off."

Holding a nutritious meal, she heard every word of his conversation with his closest friend before she entered.

"When are you taking Li Shuang to meet your parents?"

The man glanced down at her. "Why are you crying?"

Late at night, drunk, Fu Zezhou dialed a number he knew by heart, his voice full of humble pleading. "Lili."

"Please stop being mad at me, okay? You still want me, don't you?"

A careless laugh came from the other end of the line. The man looked at his new wife's sleeping face.

"Who is this?" he asked, making an effort to be polite. "May I ask what you want with my wife? To be her doorman?"

After something happened to the Li family, Li Shuang had always been cautious. The only reckless thing she'd done was marry a man she'd met just three times.

Cheng Yan needed a stable marriage, while she needed to escape from someone who would never love her.
