The Song of a 52-Hertz Whale

A mute woman suddenly appeared at a lighthouse outpost in the wasteland.

She couldn't speak, but she had beautiful handwriting.

She took over the lighthouse keeper's post. While everyone else avoided the war, she lit the beacon alone in the dark and took in the poor souls who had nowhere to go.

Someone once asked her when she would leave the wasteland for the new world.

She blinked her beautiful eyes and wrote a few words on the paper.

"When the night fades and daylight comes."

I used to be a whale.

Unfortunately, my own kind didn't accept me, because they couldn't hear my voice.

I got used to eating and sleeping alone, and to putting on a water-spouting show by myself, even when there was no audience.

Until I met Ye Jibai.

He said to me, "Anke, your singing is beautiful."

From then on, my world was no longer lonely and dark.

Everyone says Ye Jibai is dead, but I don't believe them.

He said he would come find me again.

When daylight returns to this land, he'll come back.
