A week before the holiday, Sheng Yi heard that Lin Yingqing might be dating someone. That night, she got a message from her mother saying Lin Yingqing still wouldn’t be coming home this year.
She replied: I’m bringing someone home this year.
New Year’s Eve.
After a long, exhausting journey, Sheng Yi finally made it home and rang the doorbell.
Lin Yingqing opened the door.
Her features seemed just as Sheng Yi remembered: delicate and graceful, yet more mature now.
It was as if nothing had changed, and yet everything had.
Her mother carried a dish into the living room and chided her with a smile. “Don’t you recognize your big sister? Say hello.”
Just like the first time they met, Sheng Yi stood in the entryway with a stony face, unwilling to call her “big sister.”
Her mother went back into the kitchen.
Sheng Yi remembered one summer vacation when they’d sat on the living room sofa, listening to the sounds of cooking from the kitchen, secretly kissing until they were both swept up in the moment.
Ever since Lin Yingqing moved into their home, she had indulged Sheng Yi in everything, welcomed her feelings, satisfied her desires, and agreed to every “naughty” suggestion she made.
She had once said the most touching thing to her: she wanted Sheng Yi to live up to her name and find success in all she did.
Yet the person who had walked away so decisively, cutting off their relationship without hesitation and leaving Sheng Yi with nothing but heartbreak, was also Lin Yingqing.
Five years later.
The first thing Lin Yingqing said to her was, “Where’s the person you’re dating? Didn’t they come with you?”
Sheng Yi didn’t answer. Instead, she asked, “Why did you suddenly decide to come back?”

Sheng Yi made up a “partner,” switching between two accounts to create chat logs and post updates visible only to Lin Yingqing.
When she could no longer keep up the act, she asked a friend to play along.
The performance was terrible, obviously fake. Lin Yingqing saw right through it, but still drank a lot.
That night, when they got home, Lin Yingqing cornered her in her room and pressed a damp, salty kiss to her lips.
“Puppy, you’re not allowed to wag your tail at anyone else.”
Sheng Yi turned her head away, refusing to look at Lin Yingqing’s tearful eyes. “Big Sister, what right do you have to make demands of me?”
At last, she called Lin Yingqing “Big Sister,” just as Lin Yingqing had wanted.
But Lin Yingqing seemed on the verge of losing her mind.
“If young love is a gust of wind, then I want to cling to this spring breeze and kiss it.”
