[Blurb screenshot from 9.16] [Little Mushroom Spirit & Ruthless Immortal Venerable, The Long Road to Winning Her Back] Ruan Xu is a mushroom spirit on the verge of taking human form. One day, a bear demon suddenly barges into her home. In a panic, Ruan Xu shoots up out of the soil and bumps into the cloud shoe of a strange woman. "Beautiful big sis, could you please save me?" Zhong Jinyun looks down and sees a little pale-purple mushroom. "If I save you, how do you plan to repay me?" "What can I do for you, my savior?" "...I'll stew you into mushroom soup." Ruan Xu: QxQ I don't think so When her travels come to an end, Immortal Zhong Jinyun returns beneath the moon, no longer her usual aloof self, with a tiny purple mushroom tucked in her arms. Her disciples are dumbfounded. This isn't the Immortal Venerable we know! Ruan Xu thought she was done for. Instead, Immortal Zhong Jinyun nourishes her true form with immortal dew, plays the zither for her, dances with a sword, plays the xun... She even says that once Ruan Xu cultivates a human form, they'll become cultivation partners. When Ruan Xu finally takes human form, she's a little awkward, but Zhong Jinyun is even more nervous: "...I'll go get you some clothes." The usually composed woman suddenly stumbles. * Later, someone quietly tells Ruan Xu that she looks a lot like the Immortal Venerable's long-dead first love. Only after recovering the memories of her past life does Ruan Xu remember that, before she was reincarnated, she was brutally killed by Zhong Jinyun. The first sword on the path of the ruthless Dao: cut down the one you love! Zhong Jinyun pierced her heart with a single sword! It hurt so, so much. Ruan Xu is afraid now, and decides to sneak away. On the first day of her escape with her bundle in tow, Zhong Jinyun catches up with her. "Little mushroom, come here." "No! I don't like you! I don't want to see you again!" While Zhong Jinyun is distracted, Ruan Xu immediately burrows back into the soil. There's only one word in her mind: Run! ** Ever since Zhong Jinyun joined the sect, her mentor and the elders had placed great hopes in her. They had raised her to the highest halls, just a hair's breadth from ascending to immortality. "You should never have fallen in love." Eighteen strokes of the discipline whip fall. Her mentor speaks sternly: "But as long as you let go of these feelings, you can still attain the Great Dao." Zhong Jinyun remains calm: "If the Dao betrays me, I'll abandon it! Let all my cultivation scatter, then." Her ruthless Dao shattered, her cultivation entirely lost, Zhong Jinyun never regretted her choice. For the next three hundred years, Zhong Jinyun travels across the six realms, searching only for Ruan Xu's reincarnation. Until one day, a little pale-purple mushroom catches the hem of her skirt. It says, "Beautiful big sis, could you please save me?" At last, Zhong Jinyun has found her. But why are there always other people coveting her little mushroom?!
