[You have acquired a shrine. Condition: Leaking from the roof and damp underneath.]
[You have earned the recognition of the shrine's personal divine attendant. Condition: Half-fed and half-starved.]
[Please develop the shrine and work hard to become a qualified deity!]
Kamiya Mishiro, a male high school student who rejects the rosy days of youth, is interested in studying, good food, and earning enough money to lie flat before he turns thirty.
But at a crucial point in his life, as he graduates from high school and enters society, an inheritance he had never heard of from a grandfather he had never met, [Shrine Management System], sends his carefully planned life veering off course.
Kamiya Mishiro gets up for a drink in the middle of the night and sees a woman in white crawling out of the refrigerator. "..."
Could everyone please show some respect for his shrine?
"Legend says God took seven days to create the world, and kept the last day for himself to rest."
"That's right."
"Then why, as a new deity, do I have a 24/7 work schedule?"
"Because this is the age when the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons is returning!"
The demons and supernatural beings of the Heian era have reawakened in modern cities. Monsters and spirits roam in groups along the boundary between the human world and the underworld. Amid the chaos, people have begun praying for divine protection.
There is a rumor that a shrine called [Mishiro Shrine] lies in Tokyo.
Pray to the deity enshrined there, and a handsome young priest will carry out the deity's will.
Judge good and evil, guide souls to the afterlife, exorcise evil spirits...
"That'll be five yen."
Beneath the cherry trees in full bloom, all kinds of monsters and ghosts chase one another around.
Watching his increasingly lively shrine, Kamiya Mishiro thinks seriously:
Too many employees, too much overhead. Maybe I should just cut the payroll budget altogether.
Reading notes:
1. A Japanese light-novel style story, written for my own enjoyment.
2. The prose is average and the plot is made up as I go. If it's too bad for you, run away!
3. Contains some mildly frightening elements.
Theme: Love your work and strive for the well-being of humanity.
