The full novel is complete. I may fix typos when I have time, so please ignore any revision notices. My next novel, A Liu and the Peddler (a farming story), is now underway. If you're interested, follow it from my author page.
Synopsis:
The Jiang family is a wealthy and prominent household in Lincheng. Master Jiang has one daughter, Jiang Xuan, whom he treasures like a priceless jewel and showers with every kind of affection. She has grown up innocent and impossibly pampered.
One day, Jiang Xuan suddenly ran into her parents' room and shyly announced that she wanted to marry Gu Ling.
Master Jiang was so startled that he nearly dropped the teacup in his hand, worth a thousand taels of silver.
Gu Ling was nothing but a low-ranking guard.
Between him and Jiang Xuan lay the distance between clouds and mud.
*
Jiang Xuan had a guard named Gu Ling whom she had picked up. He was highly skilled in martial arts, utterly loyal, handsome, and a model guard in every way.
Jiang Xuan had always thought Gu Ling saw her only as his mistress, never realizing that the young guard had harbored other feelings for her for a long time.
And because she lacked resolve and couldn't withstand his repeated advances, she decided to have him join her family and take him as her husband.
But at this crucial moment, Gu Ling's family came looking for him.
The once humble young guard who always kept his head bowed had transformed into the Crown Prince, second only to The Outcast and above all others.
Jiang Xuan was dumbfounded. Perhaps they should call off this marriage after all!
[Sweet, sheltered heroine vs. seemingly obedient hero who is actually obsessive and exceptionally formidable]
A sweet, everyday romance
Next novel: A Liu and the Peddler (a farming story)
Synopsis:
A Liu was born to a hard life. Her parents died young, and she lived with her older brother and sister-in-law. She worked from dawn until night without ever getting a taste of anything good, yet her brother and sister-in-law found fault with her at every turn. They were even considering selling her to the village fool next door for ten taels of silver. The fool drooled whenever he saw people, and when he flew into a rage, he beat them. A Liu wanted nothing to do with him.
A Xian was born to a hard life too. He was the child of a wealthy family, but he was kidnapped. Old Li in the village had eight daughters and no son, so, to keep his family line from dying out, he bought A Xian from a human trafficker. But Old Li and his wife died young, leaving A Xian to wipe away his tears and beg for food with his little sister and grandmother. When he was thirteen, A Xian ran away to work as a shop assistant. He had to support himself and his younger sister at the same time.
A few years later, his grandmother passed away too. A Xian returned home for the funeral and ran into A Liu, whom he had played with as a child.
A Liu stood before him, fidgeting with her fingers. After hesitating for a long time, she finally asked in a tiny voice, "Will you marry me?"
A Xian thought for a moment, then said, "How much will it cost to marry you?"
Remembering what her brother and sister-in-law had said, A Liu lowered her voice even more. "T-ten taels."
A Xian silently did the math, then said to A Liu, "I understand. Wait for me."
[This is a story about two people who have both suffered hardship, striving to improve themselves and do good, supporting each other through thick and thin, and working hard to build a better life.]
Reading notes:
1. The characters are not based on real people, and the setting is a fictional dynasty.
2. The hero makes his living as a peddler and is dependable; the heroine is kind and resilient.
3. Neither protagonist has a golden finger. This is an everyday farming story about family life.
Theme: The meaning of life lies in perseverance and hard work.
Isn't this just a silly and sweet heroine?
The follow-up article "A Liu and the Seller" (farming article) has been pre-ordered, and those who are interested can collect it first. Copywriting: A Liu is a man who has a hard life. His parents died early and he lives with his brother and sister-in-law. She worked from morning to night without getting a drop of oil or water, but her brother and sister-in-law still disliked her and thought of selling her to a fool from the next village for ten taels of silver. A fool from the next village got mad at people and beat them up, but A Liu didn't want to do that at all. Ah Xian is a miserable person. He is obviously a child from a wealthy family, but he was abducted. Lao Li in the village gave birth to eight daughters and no son. In order to prevent the family from being ruined, he bought him from Ren Yazi. Unexpectedly, Lao Li and his wife died early, and A Xian could only wipe his tears and take his little sister with his grandma to beg for a living. When he was thirteen years old, Ah Xian ran out to work as a waiter. While supporting himself, he also had to support his sister. A few years later, grandma also passed away. Ah Xian went home for the funeral, but met A Liu, whom he had played with since childhood. A Liu stood in front of him, pinched his fingers, hesitated for a long time, and then asked in a small voice: "Can you marry me?" Ah Xian thought for a moment and said, "How much does it cost to marry you?" A Liu remembered what his brother and sister-in-law had said, and his voice became even lower: "Ten... Twelve taels." Ah Xian calculated it silently in his mind and said to A Liu: "I understand, just wait for me." [This is a story about two hard-working people who try to be good, help each other, live hard, and slowly make their hard life better] Reading tips: ①The characters have no prototypes and the dynasties are imaginary; ②The male protagonist sells goods to make a living and is responsible; the female protagonist is kind and tough; ③The two protagonists have no golden fingers, their parents are short-sighted, and they write about farming every day.
