Blurb:
In her previous life, Tang Jinhua married the only son of a wealthy merchant well known throughout the city. After the wedding, she remained as beautiful as a flower, while her husband, Mu Zixun, carried on eating, drinking, and having fun.
But before they could enjoy their good life for many years, her father-in-law died.
Mu Zixun inherited a fortune worth tens of millions with mixed feelings, and took charge of the Mu family's eighteen shops.
"You reap what you sow." Mu Zixun knew nothing but how to eat, drink, and have fun. With no business experience or commercial sense, he fell into a streak of bad luck where everything he sold lost money. In just a few years, the family fortune was gone, the eighteen shops were lost, and in the end, even the Mu family's old mansion was used to pay off their debts.
Her mother-in-law was so furious she died right before the couple's eyes. Tang Jinhua wept in inconsolable grief, but in the end, all she could do was move with Mu Zixun into a ruined temple.
One stormy evening, Tang Jinhua was sick and starving. Mu Zixun finally managed to find her a steamed bun, but she ate too quickly and, to her surprise, choked to death.
As she lay dying, she resented Mu Zixun deeply. If he hadn't been so unambitious and poor at judging people, if he hadn't squandered their vast family fortune, she wouldn't have choked to death in a ruined temple.
Tang Jinhua swore that if she could live her life over again, she would never marry into the Mu family.
As it turned out, she got her wish and was reborn, only to find herself back at the moment when the Mu family had just gone bankrupt and she had moved with her husband and mother-in-law into the old mansion.
Tang Jinhua looked at her distressed mother-in-law and her husband, who hadn't managed to borrow even a single copper coin. She wanted to cry but had no tears left. If she didn't want to die poor in this life, she'd have to rely on herself...
[A story about a husband and wife working together to turn their lives around]
★ Reading Notes
1. This is a fictional setting (though the background is inspired by the Ming and Qing dynasties), with a slice-of-life, warm tone, family matters and social relationships, and a little bit of household scheming later on.
2. The heroine makes her fortune through business and revives the family enterprise. The hero is a little dull and foolish at first, but under her guidance, he works hard, studies diligently, and pursues the imperial examination route.
3. The author writes about people, not all-knowing, omnipotent gods who can see the future. Please read with a level head.
Blurb for the upcoming novel A Liu and the Peddler:
A Liu has had a hard life. Her parents died young, and she lives with her older brother and sister-in-law. She works from dawn till dusk without getting a single drop of oil to enrich her food, yet her brother and sister-in-law find fault with her at every turn. They are even thinking of selling her to a fool in the neighboring village for ten taels of silver. The fool drools whenever he sees people, and when he flies into a rage, he beats them. A Liu wants no part of it.
A Xian has had a hard life too. He was born into a wealthy family, but was kidnapped. Old Li from the village had eight daughters and no son. To keep his family line from dying out, he bought A Xian from a human trafficker. But Old Li and his wife died young, leaving A Xian to wipe away his tears and beg for food with his little sister and grandmother. At thirteen, A Xian ran away to work as a shop assistant. He had to support himself and his younger sister.
A few years later, his grandmother died too. A Xian returned home for her funeral, where he ran into A Liu, whom he used to play with as a child.
A Liu stood in front of him, fidgeting with her fingers. After hesitating for a long time, she finally asked in a tiny voice, "Would you marry me?"
A Xian thought for a moment and asked, "How much would it cost to marry you?"
Remembering her brother and sister-in-law's words, A Liu lowered her voice even further. "T-ten taels."
A Xian quietly did the math, then said to A Liu, "I understand. Wait for me."
[The story of two people with hard lives, who strive to be better, support each other through thick and thin, and slowly build a better life together]
Reading Notes:
1. The characters are not based on real people, and the dynasty is fictional.
2. The hero makes his living as a peddler and is dependable. The heroine is kind and resilient.
3. Neither protagonist has a golden finger. This is a slice-of-life farming story focused on family matters.
Theme: As long as life goes on, never stop striving
Hahaha, the joke is actually quite funny.
What a stupid couple!
The male and female protagonists remember eating but not fighting. They are always innocent and innocent, and their previous lives were not unjust! If I hadn't been the protagonist in this life, I would have died eight hundred times!
These two people have been bankrupt once, and they are still so naive. What a failure.
Yang Wan'er killed her grandmother, so she didn't dare to let her cousin report to the police. She killed her grandmother to rely on her cousin. It's very possible that her brother was killed by her too!
I gave too much money and it hurt my grandma! How can you give huge sums of money to the Gambler's House again and again!
After receiving so many favors from my father in the past life, my little daughter-in-law starved to death. The world is so hot and cold. I really can only rely on myself.
Watching this at night makes me feel chilly
This is a matter of time, let alone in ancient times.
Very powerful and well written
