My other novel, I Really Am Not the Great Demon King, is currently updating regularly
Zhi Che slept for a thousand years. When he woke up, he found the whole world had changed.
While still bewildered, he received a rural inn that was "drafty on all four sides, with a leaky roof," along with a sign proclaiming him an "Ambassador for Helping Newborn Yaoguai Enter the World."
No worries. How hard could making money be?
He'd heard even the northwest wind could fill your stomach.
Aside from having to clean up after yaoguai who kept slipping up in front of humans, Zhi Che was perfectly happy with his modern life.
Before long, his little inn had grown into a grand hotel, going from drafty and leaky to magnificent and stately. With his pockets bulging, Zhi Che declared, "Making money in the age of technology is much easier than it was a thousand years ago."
Later, Zhi Che earned the title of "The Yaoguai World's Number One Entrepreneur" thanks to his dazzling achievements. But then rumors from who-knows-where started making him uneasy.
"He forced humans to work for him. How pitiful. The richest man around, yet he can't live in his huge mansion and has to stay at a tiny inn every day."
Zhi Che: "..."
What kind of nonsense is that? He's the one who keeps freeloading at our place and refuses to leave.
How did he turn into a poor little thing?
[Extra Scene]
A slew of famous great yaoguai, supposedly seen only in legends, suddenly began popping up. Without exception, they all started advertising a certain rural inn.
[Well, it's not easy to enter the human world. Even the great yaoguai are taking promotional gigs now.]
[Is it really that good? False advertising will get you sent to do community service by the Yaoguai Administration Bureau.]
[The place has only been open a little while. It can't be any good.]
Later:
[When can I finally book a room?]
[It's so good!]
A sickly-looking powerhouse gong x a money-loving medicinal herb shou
Advance Preview 1: The Demon Lord's Beloved, Who Ran Away
Zhu Hanqing accidentally transmigrated into a book.
He landed in an incredibly old-fashioned, melodramatic "chase-your-wife-to-the-crematorium" novel.
And, as luck would have it, he transmigrated as the "wife."
Zhu Hanqing gave a scornful laugh.
He was a perfectly straight man. How could he possibly be with another man?
And having a child at the end of the book? Absurd!
Still, since he had a second chance at life, he had to be careful.
Though he got off to a rough start, opening his eyes to a huge, scarlet bed, it was fine. Relying on his memories, Zhu Hanqing did everything he could to change the plot.
At last, he escaped the side of the moody, possessive Demon Lord.
The world was wide, and full of possibilities. Free at last, Zhu Hanqing was happy and unrestrained.
The elegant poet immortal composed poems with him.
The cold and aloof Daoist sage crossed swords with him.
The lively, spirited Crown Prince of the Yaoguai Clan shared drinks with him.
But what pleased him most was meeting a lifelong friend along the way.
His friend was handsome, gentle, and carefree. The two hit it off at once.
Whether discussing poetry or philosophy, they always had plenty to talk about.
They even had exactly the same taste in food.
The two traveled together from one end of the land to the other.
Then, one day, the unexpected happened.
His friend had been protecting him, when he suddenly transformed into the very Demon Lord who had imprisoned him at the start!
Zhu Hanqing: Is there still time to run?!
But wouldn't it be awful to abandon my friend like this? [Thinking]
*
Everyone knew that Demon Lord Feng Heng was cold and heartless.
For a thousand years, no one had even seen his true face.
Then, on a whim, he kidnapped a pretty young man from the outside world and kept him by his side, indulging him every day.
Everyone envied the young man's sudden rise to fortune.
But only he knew that the young man thought of nothing but running away.
If that's what you want, then I'll let you go.
If I don't let you leave, you'll never learn that no one else could treat you even one ten-thousandth as well as I do.
Advance Preview 2: Why Is a Straight Guy's Brain So Strange?
Everyone at A University knew that the academic ace, Lu Xing, was a neat freak, fussy, cold, and difficult to approach. Even with a face as perfect as a work of art, no one dared get close to him.
He even had a dorm room all to himself.
That was until the first day of the new school year.
Fang Tingyu, a new student admitted through the sports talent program, was assigned to share a dorm with Lu Xing due to unforeseen circumstances.
He became the only person who could get close to Lu Xing.
After hearing the news, everyone expected Lu Xing to kick him out sooner or later. Some even started betting on the day he'd be thrown out, when another person joined in.
"My entire fortune says he'll live with me for the rest of his life."
-
As soon as his third year began, Lu Xing got a new roommate: Fang Tingyu.
After having a dorm room to himself for two years, Lu Xing found it very hard to adjust.
Especially since his new roommate was a completely, utterly straight guy.
And this straight guy was so casual about everything that he often left Lu Xing blushing and flustered.
Lu Xing tried every way he could think of to keep his distance, but failed again and again.
When Lu Xing wanted to eat, Fang Tingyu prepared his favorite dishes ahead of time.
When Lu Xing wanted to go out, Fang Tingyu checked the weather forecast down to the last detail.
When Lu Xing wanted to study, Fang Tingyu closed his family's cafe to everyone else, just so Lu Xing could have it to himself.
Straight, straight. Lu Xing had never thought those two words could hit him like a curse and leave him utterly defenseless.
He knew things couldn't go on like this, but it was impossible to take back the feelings he'd had from the very first glance.
At last, before he resolved to move out, Lu Xing used his drunkenness as an excuse to tell Fang Tingyu he was gay.
Lu Xing had expected Fang Tingyu to avoid him. Instead, Fang Tingyu became even more relentless.
When Lu Xing wanted to eat, Fang Tingyu volunteered to cook for him.
When Lu Xing wanted to go out, Fang Tingyu offered to drive him, even late at night.
When Lu Xing wanted to study, Fang Tingyu took him straight to his house, claiming that a private space would help him focus.
With nowhere left to hide, Lu Xing sped up his plans to move out.
But on the night before the move, the supposedly straight Fang Tingyu pinned him to the bed.
"Why do you have to leave? Haven't I treated you well?" Fang Tingyu held him down, his eyes full of hurt and disappointment.
Lu Xing avoided his gaze. "This... isn't appropriate."
"What's inappropriate about it? What's wrong with two men being together?" Fang Tingyu looked at Lu Xing, whose ears were flushed red and whose eyes had teared up under the pressure. The words slipped out before he could think.
"Why can't a straight guy be with a man?"
"Don't discriminate against straight guys."
