Elder Brother

He was switched at birth, and the real Crown Prince, Pei Heng, did not return to the palace until he was fifteen.

He thought his hardships were finally over, but his father and mother could not bear to part with the fake Crown Prince, Xie Jin, whose bearing was as magnificent as a dragon or phoenix. They kept Xie Jin in the palace as a prince and even forced Pei Heng to call him "Elder Brother."

So the moment Pei Heng ascended the throne, he could hardly wait to torment Xie Jin and vent years of resentment.

But if he made up a crime and executed him on a whim, the court officials would surely condemn him;

if he demoted him to a commoner and drove him out of the palace, plenty of noble ladies in the capital would be eager to keep him;

and if he sent him to the border to serve in the army, exposing him to wind and sun, it would be a shame to ruin that stunningly beautiful, pale face...

Unable to decide, Pei Heng first promoted Xie Jin to court entertainer, keeping him at his side all day to torment him.

When Xie Jin first met the boy whose fifteen years of life he had stolen, he saw the sinister, resentful look in his eyes and knew that sooner or later, he would die by the king's sword.

But who would have thought that before the sword was even drawn...

The very person who had once fought him tooth and nail over half a piece of mung bean cake would now whisper tenderly by his pillow, "Elder Brother, I would gladly share half this realm with you."

The treacherous eunuch Jiang Su worked his way up the ranks by currying favor and committing every imaginable evil.

No one guessed that the person he wanted to raise to the throne with his bloodstained hands was Li Yi, the deposed Crown Prince, bright as the sun and moon.

Li Yi himself, however, had no idea.

Crown Prince Li Yi was gentle as jade, accomplished in both civil and military affairs, and born to be an emperor.

He had only one flaw: he was in love with the wicked eunuch Jiang Su.

Unfortunately, Jiang Su himself had no idea either.

A wise ruler and a treacherous official, at odds in public, secretly looking out for each other in everything without the other's knowledge.

Until one day, Jiang Su drank too much at a banquet.

Taking advantage of the wine, he boldly swayed his hips and straddled Li Yi's thigh, his expression seductive and teasing. "Let me tell Your Highness the Crown Prince a secret. I'm actually... a fake villain."

Li Yi was completely sober, but he too adopted an unprecedentedly suggestive air. He gently yet imperiously pinched Jiang Su's chin. "What a coincidence. I'm not really a gentleman either."
