My parents died, but I was lucky enough to grow up and receive a scholarship from a kind corporation to study abroad. I always thought I had simply been reborn in Nagano, Japan, in 1972. Until one day, the anime-inspired black technology research I'd been doing for fun actually succeeded. The corporation that sponsored me was ecstatic. Besides giving me money, they bestowed upon me the title of Ice Wine (Eiswein). Something about this world seems off. I might, perhaps, maybe not be able to return to the Flower Kingdom. Ding! You have opened the door to the Conan world. Damn! This is the Detective Conan world! The mask slips, and the client's sinister side is finally revealed in the demands of the Conan Research project. Resurrection. Boss, wake up. Even in the Conan world, the dead can't come back to life! Immortality. Immortality is out of the question too! Then at least let me survive. This world is awful and insane. Is there really any reason to survive by any means necessary? I have a reason I must stay alive. Fine, fine. Use bird-specific hair growth tonic on the affected area twice a day for a week. Next." A sheep boy tottered in, looking dazed. "Doctor, I accidentally ate some of my classmate's animal fur. I've had indigestion for almost a month. Am I about to die?" Me: "...What species is the other person?" The sheep boy, looking green, said, "A lion." Me: That's absurd. "Cat-specific hairball paste. Take it for three days and see if you can pass it. Come back for a checkup if you can't. Next." A black cat civil servant sat upright. Me: "What symptoms are you experiencing?" The black cat civil servant said wearily, "I haven't had much of an appetite lately. I can't even eat dried fish." Me: ? The black cat civil servant gritted his teeth. "I've seized over ten batches of smuggled goods at customs lately. Those damn fish have ruined my nose and my appetite." He looked at me expectantly. "Doctor, you must have a way to restore my appetite, right?" Me: "...Avoid all seafood for now, and have a moderate amount of catnip. I won't prescribe any medicine.
