At the glittering, intoxicating Paramount Ballroom, dance queen Hua Yuehun's performance of "Lovesick Soul" left the audience weak in the knees.
As she danced, she cast flirtatious glances at Zhou Pingchuan below the stage. Zhou was a comprador who worked for foreigners. He was planning an international jewelry exhibition, which would include a priceless jade carving passed down from the Song Dynasty. Hua Yuehun's goal was to get her hands on it.
That very night, Hua Yuehun got her wish and moved into the Zhou residence.
Zhou Pingchuan had the most envied wife in all of Shanghai: Zhong Hanqi. Her husband kept mistresses, but not only did she never get angry, she also dutifully made nourishing soups and brewed medicine to prevent miscarriages for them.
Once Hua Yuehun arrived at the Zhou residence, she defended Zhong Hanqi at every turn.
When Zhong Hanqi was mistreated by her mother-in-law, Hua Yuehun stood up for her. When one of the concubines bullied Zhong Hanqi, Hua Yuehun backed her up.
Not long afterward, Hua Yuehun discovered where the jade carving was hidden and wrote to her adoptive father, Ren Sihai: "Everything is going smoothly. I should have it soon. Once the job is done, I want to take Zhong Hanqi with me."
Zhong Hanqi also received a letter from Ren Sihai: "Everything is going smoothly. I should have it soon. Once the job is done, Hua Yuehun will be your scapegoat."

Preorder: She Holds a Grudge
After graduating from graduate school, Zheng Kexia chose to return to her alma mater and become a proud teacher.
There, she ran into Teacher Yang, who had taken such good care of her years ago. Back then, Zheng Kexia had transferred schools. Her grades were poor, and she was timid, with a pair of nervous eyes that made her look like a frightened fawn.
Teacher Yang felt sorry for her, tutored her in private, and even let her stay at her home. Zheng Kexia experienced a warmth from Teacher Yang that she had never known before.
Now that student and teacher had become colleagues, Teacher Yang was even happier than Zheng Kexia. She insisted that Zheng Kexia move out of the teachers' dormitory and live with her. Zheng Kexia couldn't talk her out of it, so she went along.
After Zheng Kexia moved in with Teacher Yang, Xu You, Teacher Yang's daughter, also moved back home. She had always championed independence and claimed that after becoming an adult, she would never live under the same roof as her mother again.
Looking at Xu You's familiar yet unfamiliar face, Zheng Kexia panicked and blurted out, "Why are you back?"
Xu You smiled sarcastically. "Sorry, I forgot to ask you, an outsider, for permission before coming back to my own home. Please forgive me."
Zheng Kexia was so flustered that she couldn't say a word, frozen on the spot.
Back then, when Zheng Kexia lived at Teacher Yang's house, Xu You had been told by her mother to tutor Zheng Kexia every night. Little by little, Zheng Kexia's grades improved, and the feelings between the two of them changed into something more.
After the college entrance exams, Xu You confessed to Zheng Kexia. Zheng Kexia happily agreed, then changed her university preferences and tricked Xu You into going to Beijing alone, while she went south. They ended up on opposite sides of half the country, gazing toward each other from afar.
Zheng Kexia knew Xu You still held a grudge against her.
Theme: Love has the power to warm people's hearts.
A small suggestion to the author (just a suggestion, not an accusation!): Some backgrounds can be buried as foreshadowing first, and you don't have to write them out all at once. Gundam found out everything and it didn't seem very real. Then when Zhong's matter was figured out all at once, it also seemed that the other characters were not very smart, which was not very reasonable. (This is just my personal opinion, no offense intended)
I feel a little bit that Hua's character design doesn't fit in well. She is so charming. When the clock makes Hua angry, Hua should say "Oh~ Really?" And then get angry and walk away with a dashing figure. (Personal feeling, I may have brought it in, small suggestions, don't mind)
Is Hua Yu's daughter? Yu may have noticed it before
Is Hua the sister from Zhong's childhood? Hua has no memory of before he was six years old. Is this a foreshadowing? Was it caused by his adoptive father?
Hug poor Yueyue, I feel sorry for you (??ω?)ノ(._.`)
Alas What a pity, Ah Yue is not Uncle Yu's child 🤔 Uncle Yu is such a good person
Hahaha, Ah Yue has been eyeing his wife for a long time.
This chapter is repeated so much. What's going on with the author? Double charge?
Hey ;-) This plot is really a bit like the movie "Miss" hey
Very well written!!!!!
