Back Before My Childhood Friend Turned Dark

Little Commandery Princess Yan Rujiao was the apple of Prince Sui's eye, born with a delicate, graceful beauty. But her fiance, Cheng Lin, heir to the Marquis of Longxi, was stern and cold, with no romantic bone in his body. She didn't like him one bit.

Then disaster struck the Cheng family, and it turned out Cheng Lin wasn't the real heir to the Marquis of Longxi. The true heir was someone else, which meant her fiance would be someone else too: a fair-faced, charming man, exactly her type.

Cheng Lin was driven out of the Cheng family.

But they had grown up together, so Yan Rujiao begged her father to arrange a place for him in the army. She even took all the monthly allowance she'd saved and secretly sent it to him for the journey.

When Yan Rujiao was driven to ruin by the real heir to the Marquis of Longxi, her family destroyed and her own life ending with her body tossed into a mass grave under a straw mat, her spirit hovered above her corpse. She saw the new emperor, a man who had slaughtered countless people, make his first order of business in Yan City a trip to the mass grave to dig up her body.

The rebel leader who had become the terror of everyone in Yan City was none other than Cheng Lin, her childhood friend.

Rain poured down, and mud covered the ground.

He dug until his hands were raw and bloody, then held her stinking, decayed bones and carefully draped a wedding dress over them.

Reborn, the spoiled little princess knocked on the door of the Marquis of Longxi's Cheng residence.

That day, everyone in the world knew Cheng Lin was an impostor, the son of a lowly stable hand.

But the little princess, who had always looked down on everyone, wiped the mud and blood from his face and pulled him to his feet. Then she poked him in the shoulder. "Hey, when are you going to marry me?"
