The Unlucky Love God

After drifting through life for over twenty years, Cui Linglang finally puts her brain to work and finds herself a business opportunity: becoming a part-time girlfriend.

As soon as the idea comes to her, she registers an account, posts her job-seeking notice, and waits for a boss to make her an offer.

A few days later, she receives an interview notice.

Their first meeting is at an art exhibition steeped in artistic flair.

Cui Linglang puts on a confident, radiant smile. "Hello, dear employer. From now on, I'm your positive-energy girlfriend. No matter how down you feel or how terrible life gets, I'll be by your side as we charge ahead and build a beautiful life together! Leave it to me. You can count on me."

The boss simply smiles faintly. "I'm looking forward to working with you."

Cui Linglang: "Dear, how should I address you?"

The boss's lips twitch. "...Tang Jialing. Just call me by my name."

Cui Linglang: "Okay, Lingling."

Half a year later, Cui Linglang's best friend watches as the woman who often praises herself as a clear-headed, independent woman takes her fake partner everywhere. She finally can't hold back. "Didn't you say you'd quit after finishing this job?"

Cui Linglang: "I wanted to quit too, but he pays way too much!"

Tang Jialing really hates all those lame excuses Cui Linglang uses to brush him off when she meets her 'ex-boyfriend' behind his back.

He thinks he's not that petty. Surely he can accept her keeping in touch now and then with a former employer.

Until he hears that the man he happened to run into that day was actually Cui Linglang's first bona fide boyfriend.

He realizes he overestimated how much he could put up with.

Today's horoscope: Everything will go smoothly, and the sweetness will be off the charts.
