Synopsis:
By imperial decree, Yu Yao became the empress of Chu Jingxuan.
The young emperor was violent and capricious, often behaving in absurd and outrageous ways. He showed no respect for her, either, and she gradually became the laughingstock of the consorts. Yet Yu Yao was grateful to Chu Jingxuan for saving her life from a tiger's jaws. She devoted herself to fulfilling her duties as empress, dignified and graceful at court, virtuous and magnanimous in the imperial harem.
Several years passed this way, and then the Empress Dowager died.
After the mourning period ended, Chu Jingxuan forced Yu Yao to surrender the imperial phoenix seal.
Having repaid the debt of gratitude she owed him for saving her life, Yu Yao accepted calmly. From then on, she was a deposed empress confined to the cold palace.
Later, a raging fire broke out in the cold palace, and the deposed Empress Yu perished in the flames.
The consorts treated it as a joke. None of them expected the emperor to never set foot in the harem again.
·
Chu Jingxuan once thought that since Yu Yao had become his empress, she would stay in the palace with him for the rest of their lives. Instead, she gave him the most decisive farewell of all.
The third year after losing Yu Yao.
By chance, Chu Jingxuan took shelter from the rain at a temple, where he spotted a nun holding an umbrella in the rain. She looked remarkably like Yu Yao. He rushed toward her as if mad, his eyes bloodshot and his voice trembling. "Yaoyao..."
The beautiful nun in a blue robe turned at the sound of his voice.
With a puzzled look in her eyes, she asked gently, "Have you mistaken me for someone else, sir?" Her voice was unlike Yu Yao's.
Chu Jingxuan stood there in a daze.
As torrential rain poured down, he watched helplessly as the figure he had longed for day and night moved farther and farther away.

My next historical romance, The Horse Slave I Bought Ascended the Throne, is looking for readers! >▽<
Synopsis:
In her previous life, Yun Ying was in love with Emperor Zhao Chong and did everything she could to win his favor. Yet both of her children died young. Before she passed away from illness, all she received was a scornful remark that she had gotten what she deserved.
Reborn at the age when she had first entered the palace, Yun Ying thought over everything that had happened in her previous life and felt it had all been for nothing.
Yun Ying finally came to her senses. From then on, she lived at ease, walking her birds, playing with cats, admiring flowers, and sipping tea, ready to spend the rest of her life in peace. Who knew the emperor would summon her more and more often, seeming to favor her even more than he had in her previous life...
·
One day, Zhao Chong discovered that he had somehow gained the ability to hear the thoughts of those around him.
It drove him mad with annoyance. The only person whose company he could truly enjoy was Yun Ying, so he summoned her a few extra times.
Thus he saw Yun Ying look delighted and say, "Your Majesty is so busy with state affairs, yet you still visit me every day. I am truly touched."
But inwardly, she complained, "It's so cold, and now I have to get up early to attend to His Majesty again."
Zhao Chong: "..."
Before dawn the next day, Zhao Chong rose carefully and quietly, afraid of waking the beauty beside him.
The chief eunuch saw it all and marveled inwardly: His Majesty really does dote on Noble Consort Shu!

Upcoming historical romance, The Horse Slave I Bought Ascended the Throne, is looking for readers! >▽<
Synopsis:
When her biological father and stepmother conspired against her and tried to force her to marry in place of her stepsister, Qi Shuwan fled. The Qi family's servants chased after her, and just as they were about to catch her, Qi Shuwan steeled herself and begged a young man in a passing, lavish carriage to save her.
The carriage curtain lifted a corner, and she suddenly saw a face that looked familiar.
He looked almost exactly like the horse slave she had bought in Jiangnan.
Qi Shuwan froze.
Then a shrill voice scolded, "How dare you! Do you know the crime of disturbing the imperial procession?!"
Only then did she realize that the person in the carriage was the current emperor, the newly enthroned Xiao Yu.
·
Qi Shuwan knew one of Xiao Yu's secrets.
It was a secret too shameful to speak of, and an affliction left behind by the abuse Xiao Yu suffered at the lowest point of his life.
When they met again, Xiao Yu, apparently worried that the secret would come out, offered to silence her in exchange for rescuing her from the Qi family. Desperate to escape the Qi family, Qi Shuwan agreed.
But later, Qi Shuwan realized that Xiao Yu's way of saving her was rather strange.
In a phoenix crown and wedding robes, with ten miles of wedding gifts, Qi Shuwan was carried into the palace in a bright red bridal sedan chair. In a daze, she somehow became Xiao Yu's empress.
