[Journey to the West] I Once Visited Five Elements Mountain

“At last we meet beneath Five Elements Mountain, and share a lifetime through the Eighty-One Tribulations.”

These are lines once passed around among mortals, written about me and that monkey.

If I may be frank,

they sound more like they’re about him and Sanzang.

What does Guanyin Bodhisattva have to do with any of this?

The first half is mostly snark. The rest... we’ll see how it develops.

[The ending leans toward a bad ending, but it’s actually a TE, a true end] [Guanyin x Wukong]

[Mostly from Guanyin’s perspective] [First person] [Short story]

If this is a trigger for you, please don’t read.

I wrote this to give myself, someone who used to ship this pairing like crazy and still ships them now, what I think is a perfect ending. Not a happy ending, but one that feels perfect to me.

This is one of my many peculiar sentimental attachments.

The story opens tomorrow (August 6, my birthday).

Theme: “Know when to cut your losses... maybe.”
