The World Mutated, but I’m Raising a Baby

Su Qiao is an inpatient at a psychiatric hospital. They say his conditions include severe delusions, dissociative identity disorder, and mania.

The doctor tells him, "You often imagine that there's a System inside your head. You claim you can see bizarre-looking monsters and that you bear the sacred mission of destroying the world. But none of that is real. It's not normal."

Su Qiao looks at the doctor as the System screams frantically in his mind: "He's lying! You're a big shot! You're the great God of Evil! You should immediately carry out your grand mission to destroy humanity and rule over the monsters!"

Su Qiao: "Is there any hope for me?"

Later, the world suddenly changed. Strange-looking infected and mutants were everywhere.

Su Qiao watches the bizarre hallucinations running all over the place, feeling just a tiny bit confused.

With so many hallucinations, is there any chance his illness will get better?

No. All of you are going to become normal.

And so

The two-headed mutant: I used to have two huge, fearsome heads. Then one day, I ran into a madman named Su Qiao. He cut off my extra head, saying he could help me become normal. I'm so grateful to him, sob sob sob.

The mutant with hypnotic powers: I used to be able to hypnotize anything. Now, Big shot, hypnotize me, control me, torment me!

Su Qiao: Normal-looking things are so pleasing to the eye.

Later still, Su Qiao rescued a little one with black scales from a monster's jaws.

The moment he met the little one, the System started babbling frantically in his ear: "Quick, eliminate him! He's the biggest obstacle on your path to godhood. He's righteous and self-righteous, a huge burden!"

But Su Qiao bent down and gently picked up the little one. "There, there. I'll raise you from now on."

The little one immediately clung tightly to Su Qiao.

Su Qiao was very pleased with the little one he'd picked up, his good son.

He was obedient and well-behaved, sensible and thoughtful.

Though young, he was a whiz at housework: he could do laundry and cook, mop the floors and fight monsters, and still find time to do good deeds.

A refreshing presence in this strange world.

Until one night, the proper and normal little one became an adult overnight, then fastened a chain tightly around Su Qiao's ankle, smiling with tender madness.

"You promised me, Brother, that we'd always be together. You can't go back on your word."

Su Qiao: "..."

As expected, nobody in this world is normal except me.
