Inherited An Infinite Game Safe House

1.

In the dungeons of an infinite game, players hide and run for their lives, hoping every day to find a safe house. There, if they pay the ghosts and gods a certain price, they can safely make it through dangerous moments and cling to life a little longer.

At some point, the safe house gained a new owner besides the ghosts and gods.

Everyone said Xu Zhiyan was sickly and wouldn’t live long. His parents didn’t care for him, and all he inherited was a rundown old house. Rumor had it the place was cursed and plagued by strange happenings, so it was impossible to sell.

Xu Zhiyan didn’t care. He moved in with his luggage of his own accord.

At midnight, a bizarre, bloody livestream popped up on his phone. Some people claiming to be players showed up asking for a place to stay…

Just as he was wondering what was going on, a strange call came in:

“Ding! Welcome to the Infinite Game Safe House System!”

Xu Zhiyan: ?

He was told that if he entered the game and completed missions, he could upgrade the dilapidated safe house in front of him.

The School for the Blind, Night Fishermen, Nightmare Apartments…

More and more dungeons gained safe houses, giving a new wave of players somewhere to hide before they died.

The safe houses weren’t as cold as they used to be. Players could even exchange points for all sorts of items: nourishing hot soup to restore health, pillows to ease injuries, sweets to boost sanity…

Someone wandered into a forbidden area of the safe house and saw a ghost god standing with an umbrella, shielding a young man asleep beneath a ginkgo tree from falling leaves.

The god held a finger with distinct knuckles to his lips, gesturing for silence.

In an instant, the same words appeared in everyone’s minds.

‘Look again, and I’ll kill you.’

Notes:

1. The protagonist is a profit-driven merchant and a master of linguistics (?). He has a conscience, but not much of one. He’s confident and aggressive, and since this is a wish-fulfillment novel, he often gets to act like a total badass.

2. There are dungeon storylines and safe-house storylines. The story doesn’t stay in the safe house the whole time.

3. The love interest is split into fragments. His personality and identity will gradually take shape as the story progresses.

4. The setting is entirely fictional, and the story doesn’t follow strict logic. Everything serves the plot. The author is a goofball.

5. Please don’t send unsolicited writing advice. You don’t need to tell me if you drop the story. Thank you (bows).

6. Comments are welcome. All my legitimate readers are my darlings. ovo I hope you won’t argue with each other~

The original blurb and central premise were written in September 2021.

Content warning: The fragments in each dungeon are intensely devoted to the bottom, and every one of them is a lovesick fool. (They’re fragments, though, so they don’t affect the dungeon plots.) The reason is explained later in the story, so if this is a dealbreaker, please think it over before starting.

My new novel, "The Only Red-Blooded One", is now underway.

Theme: Honest transactions build a better future together.
