After catching her boyfriend cheating, Ling Jia gets a glass of wine thrown at her by his jealous fling. During a business dinner, she enters a dimly lit private room and sees Xie Zhan, his clothes pulled halfway off and his hair disheveled, injured after an investor manhandled him.
The man half-covers his face, kneeling defensively on the sofa, his fingers gripping a shattered wine bottle. He pants, humiliated and alluring.
At the sound, he looks up at her. His eyes are startlingly red at the corners, colored with a captivating, vivid allure.
The second time she sees him is at a meeting to prepare for a new film. Seated, the man is fully dressed, his long fingers holding a script. His bespoke suit is buttoned up neatly, his gaze cool and distant, his lips a vivid red. The wound on his lip, from where it had been bitten, is almost healed.
They don't exchange a word the entire time, yet the next day, rumors spread that Xie Zhan has been taken in by a powerful industry mogul.
Later, in a dim corner, Ling Jia is about to kiss her new boyfriend when the lightbox overhead explodes. She looks up to see Xie Zhan at the door, holding an iron bar in his slender fingers. His silk suit hangs slightly open, and his eyes curl with a fierce red glint as he says, word by word:
