The Struggle of a Government Maid

Xiao Liu transmigrates to ancient times, only to become a little maid. Her master's family is poor, consisting of a widow and her children. The young master, Zhong Quan, manages to get into the clan school thanks to his family's connections, but soon faces the harsh reality of social hierarchy. Watching the spoiled young masters who do nothing but bully others, Xiao Liu scoffs. "Young Master, pass the imperial exam and show those fools that money has a price, but brains are priceless!" Zhong Quan clenches his little fists and promises, "I will!" Several years later, the results are posted in the capital. The top scholars parade through the streets wearing flowers in their hair, while crowds gather along the roadside to watch. The new top scorer, the most talked-about of them all, is handsome and elegant, drawing suitors from the capital's great families to his door. Who could have guessed that the top scorer would snap his fan shut and apologize? "Please, everyone, go home. I'm already engaged, and the wedding will be soon." Xiao Liu props her chin in her hand, puzzled. "Since when were you engaged? How old are they? What do they look like?" The top scorer taps her on the head with his fan. "Beautiful as a fairy, but sadly rather slow on the uptake." Theme: Education and anti-education.
