Meeting in the Sea

While tidying up the old house, Huo Xi accidentally came across a diary and discovered her mother's secret.

Ever since her mother, Huo Xiuhua, adopted her at the age of six, Huo Xi had never seen her mother with a lover. It seemed that her mother's world held nothing but her and the everyday necessities of life.

But in the diary, Huo Xi found a letter her mother had written to her beloved. That person's name was the same as Tong Ruzhi, an art-house film director who had only recently returned to the country.

On the last page of the diary, Huo Xi found a photograph: a woman seen from behind, standing by the sea. On its reverse, her mother had written a single line.

"We will meet again in the sea."
