In the Alpha Centauri system, on planet D202, civilization has regressed by several centuries after three nuclear wars. The planet has been carved up into hundreds of districts, large and small, each ruled by a different warlord. The story takes place in the New District, among a group of extraordinary people. No one knows whether tomorrow or an accident will come first. People live dangerous yet ordinary lives, with all kinds of things happening every day.
