Countdown to the Sea King's Saintess Retirement

[Third-person narration] [Warning: The heroine is very awkward in the early chapters! She undergoes two major changes] [I've been unwell lately and busy three times over, so I can't update as regularly as usual for the time being. Please understand. Puff will be back as soon as possible.]

You've been invited to try out an otome game made by your best friend. Before you enter the game, your friend blushes and whispers mysteriously:

"I've maxed out everyone's affection for you. Go wild!"

Honestly, that was pretty considerate, since in real life you're a beautiful girl with a completely blank expression who knows nothing about romance and barely speaks.

But once you actually enter the game, you start thinking you must have offended your only best friend a long time ago. What kind of normal person would push you into a situation like this?!

You decide to go get some sun in the courtyard. The knight beside you immediately widens his eyes, awkwardly adjusts his gauntlet, and changes the subject.

"Outside... could someone see us?"

Wait, is it embarrassing to be seen sunbathing in a game?

In midsummer, you finish your prayers and decide to stay in the cool temple.

The bishop hikes up his robes and descends the stairs from the second floor. He bends down with a smile and flicks your forehead with a finger.

"Not here. God is watching us."

Wait, would God really mind someone enjoying the temple's air conditioning?

You happily wait until the day you retire. That's also the first point at which you can save your progress and leave the game.

Your coworkers of one month give you all kinds of gifts to celebrate, then offer you the same blessing in unison.

"When are we getting married?"

Wait, does retiring mean... Hey, hold on! Married?!

"Were all those things the Saintess said to me lies...?"

The knight who follows you everywhere finally removes his helmet, revealing a face even more exquisite than yours. He lowers his eyes and reaches for the hilt of his sword, his tone full of menace.

"...Were they really lies?"

"Lying is punishable by divine judgment, especially for naughty children who deceive clergy."

The bishop smiles, tosses aside the holy book in his hand, and grabs your chin, forcing you to look up into his eyes. His gentle mask finally cracks because of you.

"Did you know there's a very well-hidden dungeon beneath the temple?"

...Fine. This run is ruined. Let's start over.

But wait, why does a new character get added every time I restart?
