The Boat That Carries Dreams

People often say students shouldn't date people who are already working, and Jiang Zhouzhou knows that all too well.

Jiang Zhouzhou found Chen Zaijin through a dating app. After countless days and nights that blurred together, she finally realized that she seemed to be his pet.

When he was happy, he'd play with her. When he wasn't, he'd treat her like a pet and leave it at that.

But puppies have feelings too. They cry when they're sad, and they're especially good at nipping you, not hard enough to hurt, but just enough to make them hope their owner will comfort them.

This story is adapted from the author's roommate's real-life experience. The title was inspired by someone else's lyrics: “You're a lonely, amorous soul; I'm the heartless water flowing east. I'll be the boat that carries your dreams.”
