[Synopsis]

The hundredth year after the Seven-Day Cataclysm.

Humanity remains weak, having lost control of the land.

Mi Jia has been wandering for a very, very long time, panting from the desert heat.

Luckily, she finds a boy who is cool to the touch.

Later, she discovers that he can do more than just cool her down. He's also a great fighter, has all kinds of skills, and even sprouts fox ears.

Later, Mi Jia holds a high-value wanted poster and stares at the familiar face on it, lost in thought.

An Shi transmigrates into a book and becomes a cannon-fodder character who shares her name.

The cannon fodder is a lecherous researcher who mistakes the villain, who falls gravely injured into the research institute, for a simple little merman and claims him as her "private research project." In the end, the villain cuts off her fingers one by one and tortures her to death.

The merman is alluringly beautiful. He tilts his head with feigned innocence and sweetness. "Sister, are you done examining me?"

An Shi's gaze drifts as she takes in the merman's perfectly sculpted, tempting body, then she calmly pulls back her wandering hand.

No matter how good-looking he is, there's no future between different species.

Besides, she's a respectable researcher!

An Shi does her best to keep up her original character's persona and avoid getting exposed. She has no illusions about the possibility of changing the villain, so she stays on guard, desperately recalling the original book and trying to plan a way to survive.

At last, the day comes when the evil merman escapes.

As the merman's sharp claws teasingly draw a bead of blood from An Shi's neck...

A lethal dagger pierces his heart.

The woman before him calmly and coldly strikes again. The frivolous arrogance she once showed is nowhere to be seen. Her composure excites his soul even more than the pain in his chest.

After tossing the merman's body into the sea, An Shi breathes a sigh of relief and happily prepares to start a new life.

But she doesn't know that Lan Miu Hesi is still alive.

The deceived devil escapes death and, just as in the original story, takes human form and infiltrates the empire. He becomes a duke, then, in front of a rapt audience...

Lan Miu Hesi is a despised half-breed of the Abyss, with one half of his blood born evil, devoid of love or compassion, and the other half pure and kind, longing for love.

Though perhaps his merman blood only affects his appearance.

Until he meets a human liar who nearly kills him, and the yearning of his soul almost drowns him. To escape the torment, he comes ashore once more.

But when Lan Miu Hesi sees An Shi, he changes his mind.

He can't kill her that easily.

He should hide her away, make her his alone, just as this liar once did to him, only worse. He'll watch her beg and cry under his torment, steal her heart, and make sure she can never escape him for the rest of her life.

"This is your punishment, Sister."

"Why are you looking at someone else? Am I not handsome enough?"

"You're so cruel to me. Maybe I should drag you into the deep sea, where you can't go anywhere. Then you'll behave, won't you?"
