[Original Japanese-style light novel]
Hinoe Runa wakes up one morning to find that she has become the villain in a children's anime.
What's a children's anime? The kind where your opponents are magical grade-school girls who transform while singing and dancing.
Hinoe Runa's first thought after realizing who she is:
That was close. At least I'm not a tokusatsu villain!
Along with becoming a children's anime villain, she accidentally stumbles into a strange villain chatroom.
The chatroom showcases the full diversity of villains: jokester villains, crazy villains, villains who delight in evil, bratty villains, shonen manga villains...
The other villains ask Hinoe Runa, the newcomer: What kind of villain are you?
Hinoe Runa: ...Thanks for asking. I'm just a pitiful, weak, helpless children's anime villain.
After becoming a children's anime villain, Hinoe Runa's biggest challenge isn't stealing lollipops from grade-schoolers or reciting an embarrassing transformation chant. It's figuring out how to hide her secret identity from her live-in boyfriend.
That's right. Before she was unlucky enough to be chosen as a children's anime villain, Hinoe Runa already had a very loving boyfriend, and they were about to move in together.
To Runa, her boyfriend is occasionally a little shy and childish. When he looks at her, his eyes hold only her, as if they were filled with stars. In short, Runa adores her boyfriend and thinks he's adorable.
And yet this adorable boyfriend...
Is actually a shonen manga villain???
1. Children's anime: Suitable for all ages, generally made so even young children can watch.
Tokusatsu: Shows like Kamen Rider and Ultraman.
2. The male lead is set from the start: he's the adorable guy in the blurb. Before their identities are exposed, they both think the other is an ordinary person, unaware that the other is a villain and pretending to be normal.
3. The male lead really is very cute!
[Brief scene]
One day, Runa, dressed in her transformation outfit, runs into her shonen manga villain boyfriend on a bridge as he's returning from causing trouble. Embarrassed, her mind goes blank and she jumps into the river with a splash, planning to swim home and cool off.
Her boyfriend panics and jumps in to save her, forgetting that he can't swim.
Runa has no choice but to turn back to rescue him. As she drags him toward shore, she scolds him:
"Idiot, did you forget that I can swim?!"
The boyfriend's subordinates: ...Are we kind of superfluous here?
Theme: There are stars in your eyes, and I am the star
