Shen Ping was once the greatest assassin under heaven, a blade hanging over the heads of the various noble clan leaders.
The owner of that blade was Jiu Xuan, the leader of the Heavenly Demon Cult.
When news spread through the martial world that the Heavenly Demon Cult had fallen,
Shen Ping rode two horses to death on his way back to the living hell where he had grown up.
He dug Jiu Xuan, whose meridians had been completely shattered, out of the ruins.
This man had once been his master, the person who had hurt him most, and the only person in that living hell who had ever treated him with genuine kindness.
Shen Ping had planned to save Jiu Xuan's life, then never see him again.
But when the gravely injured Jiu Xuan woke up, he had lost his memory and turned into an incredibly clingy little menace.
Having lost his memories, the guy had forgotten everything he'd done in the past.
When Shen Ping occasionally yelled at him, he would blink innocently, pretending not to understand.
In the middle of the night, he'd crawl into Shen Ping's bed. Shen Ping couldn't kick him out, so he had to hold him while they slept.
What gave Shen Ping the biggest headache was how difficult Jiu Xuan was to care for, having grown up in luxury.
He was picky about food and drink, picky about his clothes, and openly sneered at Shen Ping's mediocre cooking.
When Shen Ping took him out to buy rice, he would ask to be carried after only a few steps. If he saw anything tasty or fun, he would immediately refuse to leave.
Shen Ping had no choice but to grab him by the ear and roar, "If you don't behave, I'll hang a straw tag around your neck and sell you!"
The little menace Jiu Xuan immediately went pale and crouched on the ground, stiffly clutching his chest.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Shen Ping bent down to help Jiu Xuan up, only for Jiu Xuan to suddenly throw his arms around him.
The little menace, whose trick never failed, wrapped his arms around Shen Ping's neck and rubbed his nose against Shen Ping's. "See? I knew you couldn't bear to."
Reader's Guide:
1. Cult leader gong x shadow guard shou. [The gong is relatively weak at first but will grow stronger later.]
2. The demonic cult leader is described as wearing red and being beautiful. This can't be avoided because the later plot requires it. Please understand. [Apologetic hand-rubbing.]
3. The plot is melodramatic, and the setting is old-fashioned. Sweet at the beginning and end, angsty in the middle. Please proceed with caution if that's not your thing.
