Ming Li is a tiny, four-headed-tall little deity who brings people good luck. He's as adorable as a little ball of glutinous rice.
Every year, each deity has to descend to the mortal realm to help the poor.
As the Heavenly Dao's favorite child, Ming Li's efforts to help the poor are rewarded with heaps of merit. Even if he just takes a sip of water, his Heavenly Dao dad hurries along behind him, raining down merit. It's so different from the other deities, who have to endure eighty-one trials just to earn a tiny bit.
Unfortunately, the good times don't last. Ming Li's Heavenly Dao dad gets reported for giving him special treatment, so this time Ming Li can only be a minor villain.
The minor villain is born into a modern wealthy family:
His father is the richest man in the country.
His mother is a Best Actress.
His eldest brother is a domineering CEO.
His second brother is a teen movie star.
His third brother is a scientific genius.
The minor villain is doted on by everyone from birth. He uses his cuteness to get away with everything, growing spoiled and unruly. Since childhood, he has loved picking fights with the protagonist, who also comes from a wealthy family. In the end, he offends the protagonist, goes to prison, and drags his family down with him.
“Dad, what do I have to do to finish my mission?”
“Just oppose the protagonist. Don't worry, even if I can't give you special treatment this time, I can still leave you a window open.”
Ming Li happily descended to the mortal realm and went to meet his new family.
On the first day after meeting them, Ming Li wrapped his little chubby hand around a spoon and scooped up some soup. With rice all over his mouth, he said, “Li Li likes Mommy's cooking best!”
A few days later, his mother, who had bought a lottery ticket for the sake of the story, won tens of millions.
On the second day, the company was maliciously reported. Ming Li was taken to the office tucked inside his eldest brother's coat, where he spent the day as the company's mascot. Productivity plummeted, as everyone was too busy fawning over the adorable kid to work.
The next day, the person who had filed the report turned themself in, saying they had been manipulated by a business rival into making a malicious report and false accusations.
On the third day, Ming Li's father took him to another child's birthday party. Even though it wasn't his birthday, he received more and more expensive gifts than the birthday child.
That night, while opening his presents, Ming Li discovered information about a bank vault hidden in one of them. Inside were national treasures that had once nearly been smuggled overseas.
On the fourth day, Ming Li's second brother took him to a film set. Ming Li accidentally wandered onto the live broadcast of a variety show being filmed next door, and became famous across the internet overnight. The show's director, someone even others couldn't find a way to curry favor with, chased after him, begging him to join the show.
And so on, during his time in the mortal realm...
One day, Ming Li was walking home from school hand in hand with his little friend when his Heavenly Dao dad suddenly appeared. “My child, you really haven't let me down. You've completed your mission.”
Ming Li froze, then looked up and asked, “I... I haven't even met the protagonist yet.”
His Heavenly Dao dad pointed at the little friend beside him. “That's the protagonist. As long as you disagree with the protagonist about something, I'll count the mission as complete. Don't worry, I've been going easy on you.”
Only then did Ming Li realize that he was still his Heavenly Dao dad's favorite child.
