Spoiled and Arrogant

Shen Zhenzhen was doted on at home for fifteen years. Then, when her father was convicted of a crime, she went from being the beloved eldest daughter of the Shen family to the lowest-ranking palace maid in the Laundry Bureau. The Shen family are all a resilient bunch, and Shen Zhenzhen is no exception. She thinks that even in the Laundry Bureau, she can be the best at washing clothes.

Fu Chong has been emperor for more than ten years, but at heart he's still an impulsive boy. When he has nothing to do, he loves to disguise himself as a young eunuch and wander around the palace. One day, he catches Shen Zhenzhen kicking a shuttlecock during her break.

"You're so clumsy. Watch me," Fu Chong says. For years, he's loved acting like an expert in fields he's no good at.

Shen Zhenzhen thinks he's a young eunuch from one of the palace halls and hands him the shuttlecock. Who knew he'd be even worse than she is? She just smiles without saying anything. In the palace, you can't afford to offend anyone. You never know who might be backing some seemingly insignificant person!

As time goes by, the two of them grow familiar with each other. Shen Zhenzhen decides that this young eunuch is rather adorable.

The Empress Dowager and the Shen family matriarch are old friends. When she returns from Mount Wutai and hears that the Shen family has fallen on hard times, she decides to help them out of regard for their long friendship. And so Shen Zhenzhen goes from being a young maid in the Laundry Bureau to Noble Lady Shen of the Guixiang Hall.

One day, Fu Chong decides to visit the rear palace and randomly picks a name with his eyes closed. When he arrives at the Guixiang Hall, both of them are dumbfounded.

"You should hurry and leave. The emperor will be here soon," Shen Zhenzhen whispers.

Fu Chong is stunned too.

"Didn't you only want to be the best maid at washing clothes in the Laundry Bureau?"
