The Grand Princess

The Grand Princess, notorious for her misdeeds and wealth beyond measure, forcibly took a poor scholar who had come to the capital to sit the imperial examinations.

Officials of the Censorate submitted memorials one after another, condemning and denouncing the Grand Princess's wicked behavior.

Xie Jiashang had always done as she pleased, and she laughed scornfully at their accusations.

Yet in the Princess's residence, as torrential rain poured and thunder roared, that man knelt before her with his back straight and his proud spirit unbowed, silent as a sturdy pine or a verdant bamboo.

"You want to leave?" For an instant, the drop of sweat that had fallen on her heart the day before seemed ready to burn her.

His hoarse voice was clear with every word, as if carving into her heart: "I beg Your Highness to grant my wish."

Afterward, Lu Yunchen rose rapidly through the ranks and became the youngest cabinet minister of the dynasty.

He petitioned the emperor for permission to marry the Grand Princess.

"My lord," the little maid at the Princess's residence said, looking troubled, "Her Highness doesn't want you anymore."
